On an Urn

GarnettR

BOTH thou and I alike, my Bacchic urn,

From clay are sprung, and must to clay return;

But happier fate this day is mine and thine,

For I am full of life, and thou of wine;

Our powers for mutual aid united be,

Keep thou me blithe, and flowing I ’ll keep thee.
