Angelou, Maya
(AN-juh-looh) A twentieth-century African-American writer, whose best-known work is I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, an autobiographical account of growing up as a black girl in the rural South. Angelou read her poem On the Pulse of the Morning at President Bill Clintons 1993 inaugural ceremony.
