NOUN: A one-seeded wheat (Triticum monococcum) grown in arid regions. Native to southwest Asia, it is one of the first crops to be domesticated by Neolithic peoples.
ETYMOLOGY:German, from Middle High German, from Old High German : ein, one; see oi-no- in Appendix I + korn, grain; see g-no- in Appendix I.
