ADJECTIVE:1. Flowing together; blended into one. 2. Pathology Merging or running together so as to form a mass, as sores in a rash.
NOUN:1. One of two or more confluent streams. 2. A tributary.
ETYMOLOGY:Middle English, from Latin cnfluns, cnfluent-, present participle of cnfluere, to flow together : com-, com- + fluere, to flow; see bhleu- in Appendix I.
