Berry, Charles Ferdinand, duc de
(shärl frdnäN´, dük d br´) (KEY) , 17781820, younger son of Charles, comte dArtois (later Charles X of France). He served in the prince de Condés army against the French Revolution. His assassination during the reign of King Louis XVIIIan attempt to extinguish the Bourbon linegave the ultraroyalists the opportunity to turn Louis XVIII against the liberals. Berrys posthumous son was Henri, comte de Chambord.
