Besnard, Paul Albert
 
 
(pôl älbr´ bnär´) (KEY) , 1849–1934, French painter, studied with Legros and Cabanel and in Italy. He enjoyed many official honors and was the last important academic painter. His Woman Warming Herself (1866) is in the Louvre. He is best known for his many mural decorations in schools and public buildings in Paris.
