Chirchik
(chrchk´) (KEY) , city (1989 pop. 156,654), suburb of Tashkent, E Uzbekistan. It is an industrial center with large fertilizer plants and machinery factories. There is a chain of hydroelectric stations on the Chirchik River. The city was founded in 1932 on the site of the village of Kirgiz-Kulak.
