Herrera y Tordesillas, Antonio de
(änt´nythr´rä tôrths´lyäs) (KEY) , 1559?1625, Spanish historian. Appointed official historiographer of Castile and the Indies under Philip II, he wrote a general history of the New World (1601), a history of Philips reign (160112), and various other works dealing with his own times. He had access to official documents, and his facts are generally reliable.
