Sinha, Satyendra Prassano, 1st Baron Sinha of Raipur

(stn´dr prsän´ô sn´hä) (KEY) , 1864–1928, Indian statesman. A successful lawyer, he was the first Indian to hold several important administrative positions under the British: advocate general of Bengal (1907), member of the governor-general’s executive council (1909), and provincial governor (1920). In 1919 he became undersecretary for India in the British government and played a key role in framing the Government of India Act (1919).
