Walker, Herschel Junior
1962, American football player, b. Wrightsville, Ga. After winning the 1982 Heisman Trophy, as college footballs best player, at the Univ. of Georgia, he played (198385) for the New Jersey Generals of the short-lived United States Football League. In 1986 he moved to the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. He subsequently played for the Cowboys (198689, 199697), Minnesota Vikings (198991), Philadelphia Eagles ((199295), and New York Giants (199596). A versatile running back, pass receiver, and kick returner, Walker is (including his USFL years) professional footballs all-time leading yardage gainer.
