Task 1 (16pts) Adding a Drive to SRV1 1. On your host system (the one running VMWare), add a New Folder to your CIS 125 folder and name it Virtual Drives. 2. If SRV1 is running, shut it down. 3. In VMware, right-click the tab at the top of the page for SRV1 and select Settings 4. Click the Add button 5. Select Hard Disk, Next 6. Select SCSI Next 7. Select Create a New Virtual Disk and click Next 8. Set the Maximum Size to 10 GB and store the virtual disk as a single file. Click Next CIS 125 Lab 4 Page 2
9. Leave the name of SRV1-0.vmdk but click the browse button and save the machine in your Virtual Drives folder you just created. 10. Click Finish 11. Click Ok to exit out of virtual machine settings. Task 2 (20pts) Configuring and testing the drive on SRV1 1. Power on and log in to SRV1 as the Administrator. 2. Right-click the windows symbol (start button) in the bottom left hand corner and select Disk Management CIS 125 Lab 4 Page 3
3. Right-click the grey area on the left of the NEW DISK and set it as Online. Offline changes to Not Initialized ( Note: you will only have one drive) 4. Right-click the grey area on the left of the Disk again and select Initialize Disk, Use MBR and OK, 5. Right-click the drive in the area with the black band across the top and select New Simple Volume 6. Click Next, then Next again. 7. Change the Drive letter to S and click Next 8. Click Next 9. Click Finish 10. Open File Explorer. Click on This PC. a. How many Drives do you see? 2 (Do not count the CD-DVD drive or Floppy drive if one is present) b. What are their drive letters? C and S. 11. Provide a screen shot showing your new virtual drive. Your Screenshot: Task 3 (15pts) Using the XCopy command. 1. Create a folder on the S: drive named CIS125 2. Using a single command , copy the C:\CIS125 folder and all its contents to the S:\CIS125 folder. Add the following 4 options (aka, switches): a.
