Internal 1. The one of the projects I was involved in building the Reasonable Accommodation Management System for the homeless population of New York City, NY while I was working for Department of Social Services. a. Objective of the Project: The objective of the Reasonable Accommodation Management System project is to streamline and enhance the process of handling accommodation requests for individuals served by the Department of Social Services in New York City, ensuring timely and fair accommodations. b. Definition of a Project: This project meets the definition of a project by having a unique goal—improving the accommodation request process, a defined timeframe for implementation, and specific constraints, such as budget and resource allocations. The time constraints for this project were set at 2 years for completion. c. Role: In this project, I served as the Business Analyst where my responsibilities included planning, gathering requirements, create workflows, document business rules, and was also involved in testing and oversight of project activities assisting my immediate supervisor who was the project manager. d. Part of a Larger Portfolio or Program: Indeed, the task was important for a bigger portfolio pointed toward upgrading social administrations processes. The Reasonable Accommodation Management System contributed to the broader goal of improving overall service delivery. e. Other Stakeholders: The project involved collaboration with various stakeholders, including social service administrators, IT professionals, legal experts, and representatives from advocacy groups to ensure inclusivity and compliance.
Internal f. Budget: The project was allocated a budget of $7million, covering expenses related to software development, training, and implementation. g. Anticipated Risks and Changes: At the outset, potential risks such as technical challenges, resistance to change, and legal compliance were identified. During the project, unforeseen external factors, such as changes in legislation, necessitated adjustments to the approach, leading to modifications in the system's features and user training. 2. Two project life cycle models that are used to manage projects are the Agile and Waterfall models. Waterfall Model: Phases: Requirements: Gather and document project requirements. Design: Create system and software design based on the gathered requirements. Implementation: Implement the designed system. Testing: Conduct testing to identify and fix defects. Deployment: Deploy the system for use. Maintenance: Address issues and make improvements as needed. Agile Model: Phases: Iteration Planning: Plan small increments of work to be completed in iterations. Requirements Analysis: Understand and prioritize customer requirements. Design: Develop a basic design for the iteration. Implementation: Complete coding and unit testing.
