1.
What is your preferred receptive learning style? Choose from the following (you may choose more than one):
Read/write learning style
▸
Visual/graphic learning style
▸
Auditory/verbal learning style
▸
Tactile/kinesthetic learning style
▸
How will understanding your learning style help you support your success inside and outside of the classroom?
I think by understanding my learning styles, I can better understand the tasks given to me by my instructor by knowing that I can use the resources available through SNHU to help me grasp whatever concept I am working on. I already know my preferred learning styles and how to best accommodate myself with them when I am handling an important project. I have highlighted my preferred learning styles above.
2.
Identify a problem-solving technique or method you have used in a previous situation and explain how it worked for you. Identify how these methods might look different in diverse cultures or different fields of work.
A problem-solving technique I have used in previous situations is re-reading whatever is presented to me, and taking a step back from the work itself to reevaluate what I have done, and see if that is the correct order in which I need to perform the task or finish the project. I also take ten-minute breaks in between whatever I am doing in order to retain more information, instead of continuing with what I am doing; I will allow myself to re-think about the information presented to me and I can understand it better if I look at it a second time. I feel like taking a break, or taking longer to finish a task might be seen as procrastination in a different culture or field of work. In my own experience, I
have had to re-do many tasks to fully grasp what I am doing or what I am learning. This has been seen as being ‘lazy’ in my previous elementary school days. In my Native Alaskan culture, a person is meant to do their task right the first time, no waiting or interruptions when finishing that task. I have been taught how to cut salmon when out fishing, but it did not make sense unless I did it multiple times, asked multiple questions and I have noticed that other people around me with a different method of taking on problem solving seen that as interruptive. I learn differently than other people, and I have come to accept that.
3.
How do you plan to stay organized or prioritize your SNHU study time?
I have made up a schedule for when I will study, workout, spend family time and for going out to shop or run errands. I am implementing this schedule this week, started right after Labor Day. My schedule consists of doing my study/work in the mornings, working out in the early afternoon, and dinner/family time during the late afternoon and evening. I feel like this schedule with help me stay on track, as I need a set routine
to keep me in a steady pace. Right now, I have two classes and I am staying on top of my
work. This schedule has set the pace for me and I am confident in myself to stay on it.
4.
List the five habits of successful SNHU students. Refer to the “5 Habits of Successful SNHU Students” infographic linked in the Module Two Resources section.
The habits in the list are as follows; strive to submit all assignments, log in early, engage often, use the rubric, and reach out for help.
5.
Choose two of the five habits of successful SNHU students that you feel would be most helpful in prioritizing your study time while at SNHU and explain why. Refer to the “5 Habits of Successful SNHU Students” infographic linked in the Module Two Resources section.
I have become very comfortable with all these habits and I especially like to use the rubric for guidance in my tasks for this course. My favorite habit is by utilizing the rubric, and my second favorite habit is login in early. I like to log in early to see my assignments and I love knowing I can do it from anywhere,
or any time.
By utilizing the rubric I have so much more confidence when I am doing my work, that I can do it to the professors instructions.
