Growing up I was always told to be a leader and not a follower, and as a child I did not think much of that saying. However, in recent years I have begun to grasp what it truly means to be a leader. A leader is someone who brings several people together to accomplish a common goal. A leader possesses the motivation and determination to achieve the said goal. It is easy to recognize a leader like LeBron James, the basketball star for the Cleveland Cavaliers, or JT Barrett, the starting quarterback and team captain for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Both James and Barrett motivate and drive their teams to work hard and strive to win. However, it might be more difficult to recognize a leader in your personal life; fortunately for me that was not the case. A leader and mentor that I looked up to was my softball coach Heather. Heather was already an extremely effective leader from my vantage point through sports, but through my interview with her I learned that she is a leader in all aspects of her life. Heather has been someone I have admired since we meet when I was in eighth grade. She became an assistant coach for our high school softball team, and that was one of the best things that happened to our program. Heather is quite the softball wiz and has been a leader in softball for quite some time. She attended Bishop Ready High School in Columbus, where she was named an All Ohio athlete. She was phenomenal softball pitcher which lead her to receive a scholarship to James Madison
If there are leaders there must be followers. It is often stated that we are all leaders, because we all have to take a leadership role at times. Equally, we are all followers at times. Even at the most senior levels in organizations, everyone is

Before now, I never really thought about being a leader. I always believed a leader was someone at the top, making decisions like a general in the army. The summit gave me a lot different perspectives on what a leader actually is. One thing that was said that really stuck with me was, “your college degree isn’t just for you. It is also for all those who come after you.” It was then that I really understood what a leader is. A leader is one who works their hardest to become the best person they can be, so they can set an example for others and help those who come after them.
According to Peter G. Northouse, a leader is someone that has the ability to inspire and create change that allows others to follow them. They display confidence, determination, intelligence, integrity and sociability (2010, p.5-21). These concepts that are relevant in the workplace are also the same in sports. As a
According to LeBron James, “ You can’t be afraid to fail. It’s the only way to succeed. You’re not going to succeed all the time, and I know that.”. LeBron will lead the team to the eastern conference then to the NBA Finals. The Cleveland Cavaliers will win the 2015-2016 NBA Championship because we have the best player in the world, we will have all our players back and they have a good bench to back up the starters.
To be a leader, you not only need followers but also have to have something to follow.
Leader- be the person you have always looked up to. Take responsibility and lead by example, don't expect someone to do something for you that you wouldn't do for them. Help others achieve their goals and pretend as if somebody was always watching.
As defined by many, a leader is someone who influences others to achieve the impossible or a simple goal. Leaders possess a myriad of qualities and traits which help inspire their followers to accomplish organizational or individual goals. Goals are ultimately the end result of a team’s effort, and because the path to getting there is determined by the leader, the concept most important to me throughout the reading is Transformational Leadership, specifically Inspirational Influence behavior.

Chances are all of us have had or still have someone like this in our lives, and that someone, is an effective leader. A leader should be able to inspire those around them. If someone is inspired and motivated to do something they will do it without being forced to. I am able to inspire others by showing them how good they are and what they can become. If someone has a goal to work towards they are more likely to improve. I will help inspire the players in my section so we can become the best we can be.
A leader is a person who strives to achieve goals by influencing people towards success. I feel I was a natural leader within the group, adopting House’s Path Goal Theory – Four Leadership Style. House (1975) stated that the behaviour of a leader is important for good performance. My main roles as a leader were to co-ordinate and motivate my group to meet deadlines and goals and to support members when giving ideas contributing
