Even though I was worried when we arrived here, I could still recognise that this island was beautiful. There were crystal waters and tropical palms. Sand that crunched beneath your feet and coral that decorated the ocean floor. Looks can be very deceiving though, Auntie. It didn’t stay beautiful for long and ever since we landed, I was praying that we would be rescued.

Key West is many people's paradise. It has dazzling waters, beautiful beaches, and a wonderful climate. This tiny island is located off the southernmost part of Florida is the only true tropical island in the United States. Thousands of people from all over the world come to Key West every year for the relaxing lifestyle and rich culture. As well as being rich in culture it is rich in history too. Key West has also been the home to many great authors and artists and is known for having a very diverse population.

The Florida Keys is one of the most famous and most visited island groups in the world. Since the keys went through a crisis where the keys were almost destroyed. The residents refused to give up there their land. For the people on the east coast the keys were important because of it significance in the economy, How the people felt about other wanted to tear down the island, and how their used now.

Carry Amelia Nation was born on November 25, 1846 in Garrard County, Kentucky. Her parents, Mary Campbell Moore and George Moore, soon relocated their family to Cass County, Missouri and when the Civil War broke out, moved their family to Kansas City. Carry began helping the injured in nearby Independence, Missouri where she soon met a young Civil War doctor by the name of Charles Gloyd. The two got married on November 21, 1867. The couple, however, separated shortly before the birth of their daughter. The cause of their separation is what would later on end Gloyd’s life, a severe alcohol addiction. A year later in 1868 Gloyd passed away due to liver disease caused by alcoholism.

There is a different feel about entertainment on the islands. Hawaii emphasizes their culture through entertainment offering numerous Polynesian shows and the traditional Luau. They too have night life if you visit Honolulu or Waikiki but the other islands are more rural with little night life. Unlike Florida, you won’t find many bands that come to perform because of the distance it takes to travel to the Islands. Also, if you grow bored then you are “stuck” on the island causing many people to feel like they have “island fever”. There are a lot of sights to see in Hawaii, so if you are into exploring there is plenty to do to keep you from getting bored. Hike to a waterfall or up a mountain, zip line through the forests, go snorkeling, paddle boarding, or surfing. Hawaii is the home of surfing with all the world class surf spots of Pipeline, Sunset Beach, Waimea, and Jaws. There are big waves, and big surf. With all the outdoor activities in Hawaii the entertainment is endless. Hawaii and Florida both have fun things to do for entertainment but you will have to decide what you like and which lifestyle you can afford.

Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail is on the side of the road where my family goes fishing. The Florida Keys are, as the Florida Fish and Wildlife officer said “a beautiful place to go fishing if anyone annoying is not around,” by which he meant if other people were around.

Being at Roosevelt Island is like a day away from the city without leaving the city. Easier said, Roosevelt Island is like a paradise—an escape to peace without any worries. With commotion blaring about the island seven good friends sought to find more information that was beyond what their ears could hear. Determination fired in the eyes of these excavators.

Living on the Hawaiian island of Oahu offers its own beauty like no other island in the chain. No Hawaiian island is the same; each one has something different to offer, equally they all have beaches and hikes. Laniakea beach and Pupukea Beach Park represent two of the best beaches on the North shore for snorkeling, scuba diving and merely playing in the water. In fact, we even went to the water park the year it opened! This park includes sprinkles and water that gets thrown all around you. My brother and I , the first time we visited this park, had an exciting time running and laughing through the many water attraction. On this particular day it was in the nineties and sunny and the cool water felt nice. Swimming is another popular activity to participate in on Marco Island. Every house on the island has a pool along with the hotels, resorts, condos, and the island gym. In fact, I go in the pool at least twice a day. Once in the middle of the day or the morning and again at night. One of my most enjoyable memories include the night my brother Jacob and I went in the pool at 11PM. The pool at my grandparents house has a light inside so we could see. Also, they have luau lights hanging on the porch. This was enjoyable because we were hitting the beach ball back and forth while my grandmother and dog Bear watched from the bench outside the pool. However, out of all these enjoyable activities, my personal favorite part and the most famous part of the area is the beach. Marco Island has a selection of beaches on the island including, a membership only residents beach and two public beaches. To go along with the significance of the beach, many of the resorts and condos have access to the beach. However, the biggest celebration and the biggest beach day of the year is independence day. Nantucket is a stretch of land that was formed from a glacier pushing up sand and sediment up and pushing it for years and years at a time. This happening several times the glacier eventually melted and what was left was the nantucket island itself but not an island yet just a hill coming up from the land and then the glaciers all started to melt and the water surrounded the hill creating an island which is known as nantucket. In 1659 the first english settlers from massachusetts and new hampshire settled on nantucket and until 1692 it was part of new york it than became apart of massachusetts. The fishing there was great because its position in the sea. WHaling started with the occasional drift whale washing up on the shore and because they are prized for their oil the people would cut them up and boil the blubber down to oil.
