Imagine not being able to go to school and learn how to read and write. America's gift to my generation is the educational opportunities we have. We are lucky to have schools and colleges where we can get an education. Educations are important for life. Without education , we couldn't get jobs and make it in the world.
Everyone can go to school. Almost every student in the united states has the chance to attend college. There's public schools and private schools that children can go to. Elementary , middle , and high school all lead up to collage. We can go to college and get a degree to do any job that we want to do.
When it comes , we get to chose where we go for collage. If we are good at art , we can go to art school. If we are good at
Advanced technology and forms of communication have changed the way we look at our nation. The current political climate and the cultural movement that is happening in our nation is going to go down in history as a revolution. A revolution where news headlines are instantaneously on our phone screens, and thanks to our advanced technology, a whole world of information is a few clicks away. However, despite these advancements in technology, the cultural change in America is often slowed down because there is a general lack of education. In America, education is the one, if not the biggest barriers that economically and institutionally suppress an overwhelming amount of the nation’s adults. Majority of adults in America do not have basic reading and writing skills yet education is still not a priority in America. There is a crucial need for education in America, now more than ever. In my opinion, the only reason for the current political climate in America is the lack of education that brings basic awareness. The solution to what we are witnessing as a nation is an education that makes individuals aware of the reality of our circumstances and allows them to see a perspective from multiple points of views. In this paper, I will present my argument on why education should be made a priority in America.
"Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today" (Richardson 382). One of the most amazing things people have dreamt to obtain is the “American Dream”. It is so profound in all the things it can symbolize. It is freedom, justice, but most of all, it is a hope for a better way of life. The immigrants who made the long and dangerous voyage to America wanted their children to have experiences that they never got to experience, one of those things being to have an education. Education has been so important and cherished for many years now. Without it, usually meant a mediocre job was imminent. Without it, people will not be using their full potential. Without it, the American Dream is not
America’s education system is a disaster and the government has over the years spent millions on fixing the education system. The government has failed in fixing the education system because they are not the real people who can fix it. The government has made many different programs to fix the education system, like the No Child left behind program. Most people blame the government for spending millions to fix the education system and failing. What our society does not understand is that the government can only fix so much. It is time for all students, parents, and teachers to take responsibly and fix the education system in the way they want. Students, parents and teachers can make the education system better by students taking control of their own education, parents who care for their kid’s education and teachers who make amazing learning environment for their students.
America's gift to our generation is freedom, religion, and beliefs in our country. The freedom we have today wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for our soldiers in the military over the years. I appreciate what I have today very much and will continue to appreciate what I have as long as I live.
America, the land of opportunity. Many people imagine of making their dreams a reality in the country of the United States, some do succeed but for others it is out of their reach. Many people do not think of the fight for education to be an issue in America, especially since America is called “the best nation on Earth”. It is like when Malala from Pakistan fought for rights that everyone should have the right to education. Education is said to be the key to success and with the proper education people can get jobs and make a living off it. Native Americans need education to get out of poverty and to reach out to society and, hopefully, catch with the rest of the world. People tend to forgot the importance of
One of America’s greatest gift is education. Nelson Mandela once said, “ Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” The quote means the more education you have you can use your education help other people. Education means a lot to me cause my parents didn’t have the education they wanted, so they want that education for me. In America, we have the right to get a free education. In many countries kids at the age of ten or twelve have to quit school to support their family. America has a ton of scholarships for the people that can’t afford to go to college; America also has a wide range of fields one to suit each type of person.
“The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease” (William Osler). “Good” physicians treat the patient not just the disease. This topic is important to me because I think caring about the older generations like my grandparents and great grandparents. My generation has been given the opportunity to receive good health care where my grandparents did not have that opportunity. People need to take care of their health carefully. America’s Gift to my Generation is health care.
In his article “Kenneth Cole Gets Schooled” David Sirota writes, “Taking an honest look at America’s education system brings up queries about why other less economically stratified nations have unionized teachers and far better academic results than here in America (761)” Students in other countries such as Korea, Finland, Japan, the Netherlands, and Canada have far better academic results than those in America, yet the teachers are not the one who need to be accepting all the blame for the failing academic standards. I am an elementary education major and have grown up as a teacher’s kid and have always found this statement and fact somewhat interesting. Now attending college I understand this statement, and
Children as our biggest treasure deserve the right to a quality education and an opportunity to be successful in life. That can only be accomplished by instilling the right values in them from the young age, leading them to the right path and showing them how important education is. Teach for America improves and nourishes America’s most valuable asset – the children. It provides leadership in the low-income school communicates that need quality education for the children who are less fortunate, and lack funds and opportunities.
7:25 to 2:15. We spend 180 days a year here. We spend 900 hours here. We spend the majority of our adolescence here. School. We ,the millennial generation, are in our prime time for intellectual development, ready to forment our opinions, beliefs, and our perspectives on life. The information we process flows into our thoughts, then into our actions, then into our habits. These habits become our identity. We can not help but absorb and evaluate the flow of information continuously presented to us in this vast place: Students, teenagers, are like sponges. School grants us constant stimuli, or water, for thought. School is the cultivation center for all our experiences conscious and subconscious. The simple of task of receiving an education has more far reaching effects than we can ever imagine. The quality of our education, the extent to which we utilize our education, and our time dedicated to our education, guides our identity. School leaves imprints on our souls: politically, culturally, and physically. Education is defined as the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction. But it is so much more. As an adolescent who has been afforded a high quality education, I can understand the influence a commendable education has had upon me contrasted with other factors such as familial influences. Also, because I’ve had very diverse friends groups I can clearly identify the effects their quality of education
difficulty choosing which art to pursue for the next four years. But when I was
My classroom is made up of mostly white middle class children. It is therefore even more important to offer a variety of reading material that exposes these students to cultures they are not yet familiar with. I work in Harahan, Louisiana which is a very small, tight knit community. Just before our Mardi Gras break, one of my students said that she and her family were going out of town for the holiday. When I asked where they were going, she replied, “We rent a house on St. Charles.”
Benjamin Franklin lived in the eighteen century. He attended but did not graduate from the Boston Latin School. However, Franklin was a very educated man. Franklin continued educating himself, after withdrawing from the Boston Latin school, through other means such as reading. Nevertheless, Franklin acknowledges the importance of education. Today, the value of education is often preached. However, many of the United States` policies do not reflect on the so called importance of education. For example, The United States spends 20% on Wars and only 3% on education. This tells us that the United States do not care as much about education as we do about the wars. With such a low investment in education, the United States has fallen behind in terms of education. However, there are signs everywhere that the United States needs to invest more in education. For example, one was considered an educated man if he graduated high school in the 1960`s. Thus, many viewed two and four year universities as luxuries. Fast-forward fifty years later, even careers that are entry level jobs strongly recommend having a
Education is not offered to many and taken for granted by most. Society does not run without education. Education reduces the levels of poverty, increases the incomes of individuals, and boosts the economy; however, some countries do not offer education possibilities to their populations. People need the opportunity to earn an education to better their lives and their communities. Education is not valued in the American society and government today.
There are many reasons, that in today’s age, people should be educated. Young people need to realize that being educated could change the state of the nation that he/she lives in. In countries where education is limited, such as Africa and Ethiopia, people are living in ungodly conditions. Nonetheless, the United States gives everybody the opportunity to learn and the poverty line has been getting better throughout the years. This is all because people were able to get jobs with their education, furthermore creating a stronger, stable economy.
