The book selected for the assignment is, ‘Be a people person: Effective leadership through effective relationships,’ by John C. Maxwell. In his book, Maxwell explains how a person who follows can turn to a leader by connecting with people and relating to them from a biblical perspective. Over the course of this semester, I have learned about the theoretical foundation of leadership and management. From various leadership styles to numerous learning tools have all aided in shaping me to become an effective leader not only in the health care profession, but everyday life as well. Through utilizing these tools, I have managed to put them into actions through working individually and in teams which has helped me to learn more about myself and the type of leader I am. Throughout this action plan I will reflect on my definition of leadership, what I’ve learned about myself in the capacity to demonstrate leadership, my leadership strengths and weaknesses and three action steps that will help me to develop my leadership in the future.
The leadership models/theories that will be demonstrated are skills-based leadership, situational leadership, and leader-member exchange theory.
In this article the author deals with the concept of growing mature leaders in a way that is in-line with the New Testament. One of the areas that this article addresses is that of the servant leader. This is especially important for this writer’s research due to the fact that the apostle Paul was a servant leader following and encouraging others to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ; who is the ultimate model for servant leadership. Another area addressed is that of spiritual renewal. There is a danger when leaders are out-of-touch with God and yet are striving to lead God’s people. The author also makes reference to and cites many passages of scripture penned by the apostle Paul. Many of those passages will be relevant to this writer’s topic of study and examining how this author understand and interprets those passages will add value and insight especially when it comes to applying the biblical truths of leadership in a modern
In a culture that equates leadership with position and power, servant leadership is inherently hazardous. The name itself arouses negative connotations of individuals taken advantage of by others. Therefore, a leader who identifies as a servant of those he leads must embrace a life of risk. In
At the present time, leadership, especially effective leadership plays an increasingly significant role in the organization, which can be regarded as the process of affecting activities of an organized group in its efforts forward target setting and target achievement (Daft, 2011). From this perspective, organizations in every walk of life are in pursuit of effective leadership in order to ensure the competitive advantage (Schriesheim et al., 1999). Although there is no unique definition about effective leadership, precisely, in light of Lussier & Achua (2007), there are two basic requirement on effective leadership: for one thing, effective leadership will ensure that reach the target of the group can be reached effectively; for another, leadership can impose positive influence on the group members, and motivate them to Maximum their potentials.
Some scholars categorize servant leadership, transformational leadership, and authentic leadership as post-industrial styles of leadership (Guthrie and Osteen, 2012). These theories have some similarities because they each contain elements of the other. For instance, Marques and Dhiman (2016) state that servant leadership and authentic leadership are primary expressions of spiritual leadership. Both servant and authentic leaders are altruistic, trustworthy, and honest. Having said that, the assigned readings show that servant leadership represents a shift from followers serving leaders to leaders serving followers. Therefore, this critical analysis focuses on the difference between servant leadership and the other two leadership styles, namely; transformational leadership and authentic leadership.
My leadership philosophy is all about people, to elaborate on this principle I believe that Soldiers are the Army’s most precious assets as a fighting force. I believe that leadership is treating Soldiers with respect to influence them in order to achieve their full potential and strive to provide them with mentoring along the way.
it is being a leader who is ethical and who goes beyond self-interest to help the group. This questionnaire affects my own leadership because it tells me that I have the problem of being too laissez-faire when there are situations where I need to be more direct.

Leadership Philosophy 1. I am passionate about goal achievement and the victory in personal excellence. 2. I believe in retaining valuable relationships through a creative, personable and compassionate experience. 3.
My leadership philosophy is consists of multiple leadership theories. Leadership theories can be leader-centered or follower-centered. Leadership theories focus on the leader’s personality and skill abilities. The psychodynamic approach is most similar to my leadership style because of its focus on personality. My leadership style is directive and task oriented. There are certain weaknesses in my leadership style which I know I can improve on. By incorporating the knowledge I have gained through this course I plan on applying the contingency theory to refine my leadership skills. The path-goal theory’s main emphases is on the relationship between the leader and follower which can help influence your subordinates. As a follower, I feel the relationship between the follower and the leader is tremendously important in the work environment in order to be able to complete tasks efficiently which is described in the leader-member exchange theory. In this essay I will describe my leadership philosophy which is comprised of the contingency theory, the path-goal theory, the leader-member exchange theory, and the psychodynamic approach theory and present a plan of action to improve my leadership and motivation skills.
A Christian leader, my goal is to use Biblical principles to guide my servant leadership relationship with followers and associates. Using the Holy Spirit as a guide, this will enable me to achieve a common goal with those I lead. However, my effectiveness as a Christian leader is not an accident, but rather it will be the result of a carefully crafted leadership development plan that systematically addresses leadership behaviors and spiritual gifts. This plan will also use self-assessments to guide me in understanding who I am as a Christian leader and to examine the use of Biblical principles in my leadership practice. In addition, an assessment of my personal and professional strengths
The multicultural concept and path goal approach are two leadership approaches that are vital for the field of social work. In America, the country is made up of different races and ethnicities and is viewed as the most diverse country in the world. If social workers in this country used an ethnocentrism approach, then we would be a country divided instead of united, and only assist individuals who provide the opportunity for personal gain (Potocky, M. 1997). For example, if I only choose to assist African American women, then my goal to help them has more to do with their similarities to me, instead of being focused on the client, holistically. In Social work, no one gets
Chapter sixteen discusses various leadership theories which can implemented by leaders to achieve success. The choice of leadership theory differs from leader to leader as they possess different vision and way of managing. A theory isn 't always perfect in itself, it is the endless effort of the leaders which makes the theory a perfect one. Two approaches of leadership that I prefer are Situational Leadership Theory and Servant Leadership Theory. Among many theories I prefer these two because I tend to practice those principles most of the time and I assume these are theories that I truly tend to continue in a long run.
