Analysis of Group Work
In the APS module, we have been allocated into different groups, and my group number is 48, our tutor is Barbara Allan. The contact numbers of the members were given and we were asked to finish a project on a team basis by using the information we learnt in this module.
2. Working process and group development ========================================
Initially I was really excited about this group work. As a foreigner, this was a good opportunity to practice my communication skills and group working skills. Then I understood it was extremely difficult to get my task finished without any clear target. Therefore, I chose "9/11"event as my topic and I found it was easier for me to do the research again. Secondly, I had also read newspapers and try to find some more information relevant.
3. Difficulties and weaknesses ==============================
During the process, we also had many problems and difficulties. For example it was difficult to gather all the group members, the whole team lacked the ability to sit down and plan together efficiently. Especially, it was very difficult to set up the meeting time, because some people in the group did not always show up in the regular meetings. Even some of our members I just met just once. Therefore, we needed to rearrange our meetings again and again. It can be identified as Belbin's description (Martin, J, 2002, P.237): people do not have enough morale. This inspires me that in real business team, e.g., hi-tech research and development team, the most important thing is to bring people together. This is exactly what a project manager do. What is groupthink? There is a simple definition for it, but is it truly that simple? The term groupthink refers to the inclination of group members to have the same opinions and beliefs; it frequently leads to mistakes. It often occurs without an individual being aware of it. Conflict is considered to be a harmful element when related to groups, but conflict is good when considering groupthink because it helps to eliminate the existence of a groupthink. The explanation sounds simple enough, but it is more complex than the description given.
After completing the group task of preparing a presentation on, transferring individual facilitation skills into a group work setting I will critically reflect upon my own participation. I will evaluate my self-awareness while working in the group, as well as those around me. The way that I personally dealt with any issues that arose within the group and how that affected the group dynamics. I will also briefly discuss the roles in which each member of the group took and how role allocation affected, the group dynamics and the working relationships. Finally I will evaluate my work having discussed it with my fellow group members.
In this paper I will describe and analyze my experience working in a group situation, writing a paper on the movie 12 Angry Men. I will address therapeutic communication techniques used in our group situation. I will address any conflicts that arose in our group. Utilizing Tuckman’s group process theory, I will also address the effectiveness of our group process.
Successful teamwork and collaboration directly affects the efficacy of interdisciplinary communication. When effective communication is achieved within the healthcare team, this increases the amount of positive patient outcomes. Nurses and physicians must cooperate in order to attain a synergetic relationship. Their roles are integral to creating a safe environment for their patients. When all of these elements combine, the quality of care improves and collegial relationships are strengthened.

An important part of our learning and growing experience must stem from our ability to analyze and reflect upon the groups that we have been members in. This reflection can define our understanding of the weaknesses both in ourselves and in the others within our group; and it can help to shape the way that we act in future groups. As people, when confronted with a problem where a solution must be found, our ideal situation is to come up with the best possible one. To do this, we ideally gather the most knowledgeable, intelligent individuals into a group and attempt to derive the best solution to the problem. With the collection of these people, one would think that finding the best possible answer to the problem would be a rather simple task. However, what has happened in many situations is the complete opposite. Group work has been a cornerstone of the social work profession and requires a variety of facilitator skills and awareness of group processes. The SSLDTM Group Program for People with Difficulties in Social Situations (Socialwork1914, 2017) provides an excellent example of a psycho-educational group co-facilitated by two female social workers, Jane and Karen. After viewing the 6th session of this 8-week program, I began to understand how the concepts of group formation/development, interpersonal dynamics, and leadership styles contribute to successful group work outcomes.

During our small group discussion we didn't have one leader, we worked as a group to come to an agreement. We used the "team player" form of leadership. We wanted to keep and maintain harmony through the whole activity. This was very effective and allowed us to get done in 20 minutes.
Teamwork can be complex and challenging given task and interpersonal issues, level of group motivation and expected performance standards. The concrete experience spoken about in this reflection piece is in reference to the effectiveness of myself as a group member and the group, working to write a report outlining the organisation and structure of Volkswagen. Dennison (2009) applies Kolb’s learning cycle (1981, 1984) which suggests that learning moves through a continuous cycle, between having an experience, and then reflecting on that action. This cycle has been developed from Lewin’s (1951) model for experiential learning. Reflection termed by Boud, Keogh and Walker (1985) ‘is a forum of response to the learner to experience’(p. 18). On reflection, the early set group dynamics was a defining factor in the experience, and how the team conducted themselves throughout the task. Meyerson, Wick and Kramer (1996) note that ‘such rapidly converging groups require methods for developing “swift trust”’ (p. 8), which can explain why initial group dynamics are so important. I took on multiple team roles, including group leader, which could be translated into the team not performing collectively on a high level, however, I could view this as a personal ineffectiveness of my leadership style.
Chapter conclusion: Benefits for employees are very important for companies. Benefits for employees include various insurance plans, paid vacation days, paid sick leave, paid days off, etc. Different companies need to establish different benefit plans based on their company conditions. I started teaching Mathematics at La Quinta middle school back in 1988. my third year teaching The state was trying to revolutionize mathematics teaching in there starting at the middle school level. it was called Renaissance math. cut away from the textbook approach and relied heavily on activities, Cooperative grouping, and somatic units. we spent a lot of time working on Cooperative groupings. Introducing the kids to activities where they had to work together. I got to where I really loved the Cooperative grouping approach, but as you can imagine especially with middle school students it was exhausting to do it everyday.
