Animals Behind Bars Children are jubilant and enamored as they stroll by the animals incaptivated at the zoos. What they are not aware of is that the animals are not elated or healthy there. Most animals in captivity should be released because captivity directly affects their health, behavior, their instincts, and they are permanently disrupted. These issues are revealed by the studies that show the change from their natural habitat to the place they are held captive. One study shows that the health of the animals changes drastically when put into a captivity. Some of this is caused by the veterinarians not providing the animals with proper health procedures. (Add source 2 here) The creatures also go from being free in the wild with no limitations to being trapped in something that is much more condensed. For example, a typical polar bear enclosure at the zoo is one-millionth of the size of their “home”. They will say that zoos only rescue the animals that “need” rescued or do not stand a chance in the wilderness. Some say that they rescue animals who would otherwise be extinct if they did not captivate them. Breeding nearly extinct animals is another reason why some believe that animal captivation is an acceptable thing. Another reason is that zoos allow people to have the opportunity to receive education on the animals captivated.
