After figuring out what the “issue” was and what it surrounded. It put me in a place where I had to really pause and think about where to go with this issue my young person was facing. Which I then told her I understood where she was coming and I will try my best to workout the situation. For instance, I reframed her with the question on how would she feel if being heterosexual quote and quote was the wrong way of living and knowing that persons don’t accept her for who she is. I then gave her a few second to marinate the question which she took a while before responding with I understand, but the bible said it is wrongful for a person to be dating the same sex and that the right way to live was to date the person of the opposite sex and that her parents let her know it's wrong.I took a step back and reflected on how I use to think when I was younger and how my surrounding use to portray the LGBTQ community as something that was not the right style of living.
When I originally was registering my class choices for the Fall 2016 semester, I considered English 111 to be an undemanding course that I could pass without a lot of effort on my behalf. I had no trouble passing prior English courses, years ago, so I felt this course would be similar. What I had not anticipated was how much I honestly could learn, such as: how you should properly cite sources, how you should suitably prove your thesis and how you can accurately set up the flow of a paper. Although, the most informative part of English 111, for me, has been absorbing all the information on the different styles of papers that can be written. I believe that recognizing the usefulness of distinctive varieties of papers will help me throughout
The beginning of my junior year seems like it was such a long time ago. This may be because of how much I have grown since the start of the year. When I began AP English, my writing skills needed improvement. For instance, I often used incorrect grammar and struggled with staying on topic. In just one semester, my writing has improved immensely. The more than I write, the more I learn about how to craft a good paper. I have worked on improving my grammar, using rhetoric, addressing my subject, and many more elements of writing. In addition to improving my writing, I have gained many skills to become a better student. I have learned about effective study techniques and time-management skills that allow me to be the most successful. Since I always try my best, I know that over time I will continue to grow in my studies. This year I have gained countless skills that will help me succeed in English in the future.
“Finally!” I thought to myself as summer is slowly approaching, “I am done with this high school forever.” I honestly am so excited for summer that each day I count down the number days I have for school. Moreover, I constantly think of the activities that I will do during the summer that sound a lot better than school. Despite being overjoyed of leaving high school, I certainly would not deny that I have tremendously improved as a writer. True, as mentioned in all of my previous reflective essays, I still despise English; however, I have to grudgingly admit College Credit Plus English 1010 refined my writing skills from my junior year in AP English class. My classmates and teacher pointed out some ways that I could brush up my essays, which
Overall, being able to compose an acceptable essay and fine tune my grammer are the most important goals I have this year, besides passing the AP English Language Test. Writing notes from a Powerpoint or collaborating in small groups is the ideal way for me to learn. In my opinion, discussions are only satisfying when everyone in class knows the material thoroughly. Also, this summer I studied SAT vocabulary which increased my ability to understand what I was reading and also apply those words in my conversations. You can support me by conducting vocabulary tests and timed writing assignments.
After reading through the class syllabus a few times, I get the impression that AP English will be a significant departure from my previous english classes, especially in workload and our power to determine our essay and discussion. Prior to this class, I have taken honors English 9, 10, and 11, with Derry, Armstrong, and Brewer, respectively. Though the specific focus of each class varied, all three, English 9 and 10 particularly, followed a similar pattern of reading, guided analysis and discussion, essay writing, and assessment. Almost all of this was very structured, such that I felt that our essays were pretty formulaic. Additionally, much of the class discussion seemed superficial in places, often discussion time was cut very short,
My students take the AP Literature and Composition Exam; I have taught the course for four years. The year before I started, student were hand-selected for AP Literature and Composition, and only 9 of 26 students earned qualifying scores (3's or higher). My first year we had just shifted to open enrollment and nearly half of my 50 students were not honors or hand-picked students. Still, our passing percentage inched up from 34 to 36 percent. Numbers keep increasing--I have 70 this year--but our passing percentages are holding steady or increasing slightly, more students overall are earning qualifying scores and, most importantly, more students have access to rigorous coursework that will better prepare them for college whether or not they "pass"
I took AP English Language course during my junior year and-truth be told-the teacher, I took it with was probably the best and the hardest English teacher at school. He would teach beyond his English lesson plan because he believed we should learn as much as we can now and not "learn it in college later." Additionally, he would make us respond to college prompts and read brilliant works by Ralph Waldo Emerson and Bertrand Russell. Of course, this took me some while to get used to, but because I'd do anything but drop out of AP so I pulled through by making sure I had my priorities straight and did the coursework I needed to do, asked questions whenever I had the slightest uncertainty, and collaborated extensively whenever I could with my classmates
As a first-time freshman, I honestly was very excited about English. I expected it to be much like my AP Language course, but somewhat better. I was always told that you read a lot in college, and I was not sure how I would manage reading different texts while also keeping focused in my other classes. But, thanks to the lord above! I did not have to stress about that during this course. I loved the way this course was taught mainly because it was not overly demanding. Throughout this course, I was taught the correct way to use dialogue in my writing, as well as being grammatically flawless.
The speaker was discussing about the chemical effects in the humans. He mentioned that chemicals can damage brain development. He suggested that is needed a device to test chemicals in a systematic way. He talked that people can lose IQ's points and mobility. He discussed that contamination may cause decreasing of child
Did I learn anything? The short answer is yes, of course, I learned something. But since that is not good enough for this paper I will explore further. So my ONLY goal this semester was to get ‘A’ so that I can increase my GPA, and that is the most important thing to me right now. So not getting an ‘A’ will make me hate this class, label myself a failure, and cause me to bang my head against the wall until I forget everything.
First ,I listen to the patient and hear them, because it is very important to let the patient explain their concerns and patient needs to see that you actually pay attention to them. Next, I would emphasize to patient and validate their feelings. I would let them know that I understand that they might be confused and disappointed. I would than apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this situation might haver caused the patient. After that, I use this situation as a chance to educate patient about Pas, their roles and practice. I will explain that PA is a medical professional; with master degree and education and training that gives us set of knowledge and skills to perform the examination, analyze and diagnose. I also explain that PA
I enjoyed having class being video taped rather that reading a book. The Latina culture is growing significantly. Georgia has a 9% Hispanic population from the census not count the undocumented Hispanics. The migrant trail is responsible for why in certain areas there is more Spanish speaking people in a area. There is more agriculture there will be more Hispanics. I never realized how many different ways you can be taught a language. In the special topics video learning a different language started with the translation method. The translation method focus on the number of words. The 1800s Latins, Greeks, and French focused more on the writing and reading of language rather than speaking. Along the same time the direct method was introduced but never officially caught on. Direct method has a close resemblance to the way we are taught today. It is more of call and response method. In the 60s a quick way for others that were in listed in the military to learn a language was the audio-lingual method with basically a fast pace mechanical set that was dialogue memorized. For those who have anxiety the suggestopedia might have been an option.it was more of a relaxed setting and that meant to relieve stress of learning a new language. Silent way is when a teacher doesn’t have very much involvement and let the learners in the class to lead the class with dialog. Total physical response sounded fun to me when explained in the video. It is very high active and give the learner a
Now that I’m in college my mindset hasn’t changed much from high school. It’s still family, wealth, music and a happy life. I always was very level headed so no one is ever really worried about if I make the right or wrong choice. Actually, this is an even better platform form me to work on getting myself involved in more. I mean ever since I was young I would find do the right thing and find the best option for myself at the time. Just like everyone else I had to overcome roadblocks and still do. I think things thoroughly to make sure that my plans don’t affect my family, friends and future.
There are seven official sacraments in the Catholic Church, but actually, there are an unlimited number of sacraments in the universe. The love of God is not limited to the seven official sacraments. The love of God is infinite, and He can show it to us anyway he chooses. Over the course of my life, God has revealed himself to me during my travels. During the summer of 2016, I had the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica with my mother, and my grandmother was able to join us as well. We went on a tour, with about two dozen strangers. A few native Costa Ricans guided us through the country. We were able to interact with new people, see the wildlife, and explore the country. This is what life is about, traveling to new places, meeting new people, exploring other cultures. We could not have gone on such an amazing trip if God had not allowed us to do so. It was truly a blessing. God was present in all of the trees, the animals, the rivers and oceans, and all of the people. I remember going ziplining on that trip. It was the longest zipline in the country, one line was over half a mile long. It was high in the mountains, you could go very fast, and you could see for miles. You could even see the ocean, even though we weren’t near the coast. I was very high up, and the wind in my face was
For this portion of the project, my partner and I went back to the neighborhood center to observe and coach the teachers with the specific language strategies we suggested for them. We did this twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Our goal for this portion of the project was to again observe and note what the teachers and children were doing well, and to provide suggestions to what could be improved. Compared to the first observations I noticed Jihan and one of the aides using more self talk and parallel talk with the children. I felt that Jihan and the aides took our suggestions to heart and tried to implement them into various situations, and not just the example situations we provided them with. During snack time Jihan did a good job of commentating on what a child was doing (now you are cleaning up your area, and now you are bringing your spoon to the bucket, and now you are going to the sink to wash your hands). In circle time, Amaira did a good job of describing what the child was doing (you are banging the instruments together, he’s playing the xylophone, she’s playing the triangle). We tried to reinforce their use of the strategies by smiling and nodding when they demonstrated the strategy. I wanted to let the know the aides that they were doing a good job, but I also did not want them to feel patronized. I think with more experience as a clinician, I will become more comfortable with reinforcing caregiver’s behavior. However I did feel timid about
