What would you do if the person you are in love with doesn’t remember you? That is what Leo has to figure out in the movie The Vow. The movie also uses archetypes to help guide the story along. An archetype is a character, action, or situation that is a prototype (or pattern) of human life generally. In my movie the director used archetypes to help the viewers get connected to the story that is so very tragic. The archetypes this director used were a Damsel in Distress, The Crossroads, and The Quest to Find Love. In The Vow, a couple Leo and Paige experience some hardships. Paige gets into a car accident and loses her memories of Leo and needs help trying to get them back. She struggles with the decision of going back to the old life she remembers or trying to recreate the life she has forgotten with Leo. Throughout the movie Leo goes through their old memories trying to help Paige remember their journey together and why he will never stop loving her. …show more content…

Right from the beginning the director has her filling the role of this archetype. After a date at the movies, Paige and Leo get into a car accident and she goes through the windshield onto the hood of the car. From there she is taken to the hospital where she is found by Leo in a coma. When she comes out the coma all of her memories of Leo and their life together are gone and Leo and the doctors have to help get them back. Paige has major problems with this as this is not the life she remembered. She ends up getting very upset with
