I have taught students ranging from five years old to nineteen years of age. Hence, being an educator, I have learned that learning is always shifting, therefore I must keep improving with the incessant changes. As a little girl, I have always dreamt of being a teacher and I have carried out that dream. My career journey started as a substitute teacher, a floater between classrooms, an assistant teacher, a teacher, a center supervisor, and an educational supervisor. I presently work as an Educational consultant for Danya International LLC. As an Educational Consultant, I able to review and aid with the learning environment of teachers and educational management in a school
My goals at Appalachian State University are to gain education needed to become a superior leader and gain knowledge about other communities and groups of people. While at Appalachian State, I plan on pursuing a degree in Management with hopes of becoming a community leader in the future. Management will help me meet new people and explore how others think outside of Randolph County. It is essential to broaden your horizons and develop interpersonal skills to become successful in the future. I feel like a University such as Appalachian State is an exemplary institution for learning about management, the way others ruminate, and meeting new peers and sharing ideas. Appalachian’s diverse community will prepare me for a career in management and success in the future by enabling me to express my ideas and learn about others as well.
After 30 plus years working in the Early Childhood Educating field, I have a wide variety of experience and education that I can share with my students. I started my journey in Early Childhood Education as a ROP student and then worked my way to becoming a private preschool teacher and site director of an after school program. I eventually helped open and start my own state preschool as a teacher and director. I am currently learning the management side of Early Childhood Education as I am a Regional Manager of the Head Start Programs.
In the book, Careers in the Classroom by Sylvia Mei-Ling Yee, the author discusses four diverse types of schools found in the United States, showing what it is like to teach in those types of schools and what causes an educator to decide to stay or leave the profession. Through my reading, I learned about the profession and why people choose it, I recognized many issues and situations I did not yet know occurred in the classroom and realized how this information will help me in my future career.
Effective goal setting is the key to getting things accomplished. Obstacles can get in the way of
Entering the field of education requires a person to take on many very important responsibilities. Teachers play a very vital role in the lives and futures of many individuals. Through the perspective of a teacher, many students come and go year after year. The names and faces of many students are often forgotten as you enter and new year with new students, new faces, and new names. On the other hand, although educators encounter many more students then students do educators, a teacher has a much more substantial impact on the life of a student. Upon taking this into consideration, I was led to ask myself many important questions. What do I hope to accomplish as a teacher? What do I wish
As a young girl, I dreamed of what I wanted to be when I grew up. My decisions would range from a princess to a trauma nurse, at one point I wanted to follow my dad’s footsteps and be a truck driver and travel the country. However, one day I decided that I wanted to be a teacher. I wanted to be a teacher to teach young minds, to guide them in the right way, but most of all I wanted to make a difference in the world. Through the classes that I have taken at Athens State University and experiences in which I have endured while observing in local schools, I have developed my own philosophy of teaching. My career goal is to become a great teacher and mentor, and I have the determination to do what is needed to be done in order to achieve my ultimate career goal. Throughout my philosophy, I will elucidate on the elements in which will play major roles within my courses and how I see myself teaching my future pupils.
Educators have a very large impact on children of all ages, and sometimes they are the only positive influence that the children have in their lives. Children are enrolled in schools and/or educational programs to learn the basics of reading, writing, math, and many other curricula like this. However, I believe that in order to be a successful teacher you have to work to your best ability to provide a safe place for your students while making it fun and educational. I believe it is important for each individual to feel loved while they are learning during their time at school. There are many students that have had great experiences with their teachers, while others have not been so fortunate. I want to be an educator because I believe I can make a positive impact on the children’s lives by showing them that I care, and because I was fortunate to have educators that made me love school.
Communities currently, are filled with intelligent individuals that work together forming a system that sustains a society. Intelligence is within everyone however, in order to reach their level of intelligence, one must receive guidance in learning. Those who guide others in learning the essential information needed to sustain a daily living are known as teachers or educators. Teaching is not a career choice, it is a calling that requires many traits. In this statement, I will express what influenced my interest in becoming a teacher as well as my approaches in education, teaching and learning. In addition to this I will also inform on the various traits a teacher should possess in order to successfully fulfill their role as an educator.
The teaching profession has evolved over the decades and those who aspire to educate must face the reality of the pendulum swinging from one end to the other when it comes to job expectations. In 2015, The US Department of Education estimated to have at least 3.1 million elementary and secondary full time teachers employed throughout the nation. Of that number at 85% stayed in the same school, while 8% changed schools, and 8% left the profession. The current job description in 2017 continues to expand with more than just the idea that teachers teach standards for students to learn. The aspiring leaders of tomorrow must have a strong understanding of the essential function needed in various educational positions and they also must be able to understand the necessary qualities needed to fill the openings when hiring new applicants.
As a senior here at UNI, I am very anxious to start my student teaching experience next fall. I hope to be placed in an elementary classroom because I am an Elementary Education major with minors in Literacy and Educational Technology. I hope to incorporate both literacy and technology into my lessons and prepare my students for the future. I have always wanted to be a teacher because I loved school as a child and even played teacher when I wasn’t in school. I enjoy being around children and love to see the excitement in their eyes when they learn something new. I am creative, caring, and passionate and I believe these characteristics will help me to become the best teacher I can be. I have always told myself that my main goal as a teacher will be to change at least one student’s life for the better and help them see that learning can be fun. I want to show students that school can be enjoyable and teach them learning techniques that will be beneficial in the future. I believe that teachers are extremely important in this world because it helps people enter all different kinds of careers and without teachers, these other careers would probably not exist.
I chose education as my career path after working in a classroom to fulfill a Field Study course. The children had a powerful impact; they were amazing; challenging, and most of all loving. In helping them, I quickly realized that I was the one receiving the gift that ultimately inspired me down the path of serving disadvantaged children. After experiencing two semesters in classrooms, I realized my enthusiasm for teaching was not a mere in-the-moment feeling but rather a genuine enthusiasm. I became aware that teachers are an important foundation in society and I look forward to the opportunity to develop the skills children need to adapt and apply for the rest of their lives by encouraging knowledge, character and resilience.
Today, every-other person has some kind of goal to achieve in their life. From every-
From the moment we are old enough to walk and talk, we are enrolled into preschool to begin our academic careers. When I was in grade school, I enjoyed learning because of the teachers who guided and supported me all the way from lower school through high school; however, now that I’m older I realize that not every child has fun learning experiences like I did. This fact has inspired me to pursue a career in teaching, so that I could give children an even better education than I had. As a teacher, I want to give students the opportunity to find themselves by applying the lessons I’ve taught to their everyday lives. I want them to not only grow up to be financially successful, but also find their purpose, follow their passions, and live a happy and fulfilling life. I want to give even the most difficult and struggling student a potentially better future.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a teacher. I remember sitting in grade school thinking, “Someday, I’d love to be doing what my teacher is doing now.” And amazingly, as I grew older, the age level at which I wanted to teach got bigger and bigger. However, as I approached the completion of my high school years, I realized that while teaching was a passion, it wasn’t a profession. It wasn’t the money necessarily (though that is daunting to a student going into education) but I realized that the business route was more appropriate, at least in the interim.
Teachers are one of the largest forces a child will encounter in their life to help them in their journey of self. As a teacher it is important to understand this and be able to create a learning environment for the needs of all. I accept that my philosophy is mine and keep my mind open to the knowledge of others in my career as an educator. Therefore, I consider myself to be eclectic in my methods of education. As a lifelong learner, I am reliant on my teachers to help me develop new theories and methods to help my individual student succeed in their educational career. I will be well educated in preschool development and early education curriculum to best serve the student age group I will teach.
