Art Review If you have some free time and have always wanted to visit an art gallery, a start is the Art Sacré exposition. Just do not expect high quality art. Running from October twenty-third to December eight-teenth at Les Salles de Gesù, the exposition features four artists depicting spirituality and inner self. The first artist in the exposition is Hannah Alpha. Born in Egypt, she’s a McGill alumni who uses the minimalism style of painting, which is the art of using simplistic design to create maximum impact. The paintings grab your attention due to their abstractness. However they fail to portray the artist’s meaning. Her collection, called “La danse cosmique” (The cosmic dance), is her search to “attain a state of supreme …show more content…
Perhaps the only way to understand what Peneault was trying to portray is to ask her personally. In the next room I came across a very unique and interesting collection of pieces. If you especially like or have any interest in calligraphy, then you are going to love what Hongmo Ren has done. Calling it REN-script, Ren has created what he calls a calligraphy and linguistic “experimentale.” Consisting of seven English and six French pieces, he has combined the art and beauty of calligraphy with writing of equal stature. In ten of his pieces he elaborates on the beauty of nature during various seasons and includes a complete verse from the Book of Genesis. The rest of the pieces are large single word depictions again in calligraphy with intricate detail. REN-script is definitely the turning point of this art exposition. The use of words by the artist in the poems is lyrical and actually puts you in the place being described. Some of his settings include the sun shining on Mount Royal and the moon reflecting of the St. Laurent River. At times the writing is a bit hard to understand yet the more one stares at it the clearer it becomes. The amount of work the artist put into his pieces is evident when you examine the detail using ink on rice paper. Inner self is the main theme of the next and final artist in this exhibition. Using paper molds
This could either be a Grizzly Bear or a Kodiak bear. This sculpture is number 112 out of 1500.
[1] Which the show is an emerging of the idea Post minimalism. Where customary abstract painting at the time primarily explores certain issues or artist’s personal sensation in abstract manner, like Wassily Kandinsky’s painting, eccentric abstraction emphasise on the matter itself, materials, process of making, associations of organic qualities, colour, shape and sensuous experiences. Case Study: The use of assemblage and the found object in historical and contemporary art practice.
Rathnasambhava, the Transcendent Buddha of the South and Madonna Enthroned are very similar images that were produced by very different cultures. Both images were produced during the 13th Century. The image of Rathnasambhava, the Transcendent Buddha of the South was produced in Tibet during an interesting period of the country’s religious history. The branch of Tibetan Buddhism is led by a religious and sometimes political leader called the Dalai Lama. It was during the 13th Century during the reign of Kublai Khan, around the time of the production of this painting, that Tibet experienced the first incarnation of the Dalai Lama. One has to wonder if this painting is somehow related to that occurrence. According to
The art piece that I chose to critique is the sculpture of a figure kneeling down and getting shocked. It is located on campus near the Morris University Center(muc). When I first saw this sculpture it caught my attention immediately, because of how gruesome the piece was. I feel like I don’t have a good understanding of what the sculpture represents, but it seems like it would raise plenty of controversy, due to its erotic features. It seems like the artist was venting his emotions when he created his idea. The sculpture is fairly large in size, which makes it noticeable, among the other art pieces on campus. The sculpture media consist of wood and concrete, and metal mostly. The individual is keeling down toward the west and is supported
In the poem One Art, the speaker reflects over the many material things that she has lost in the past, like her mother’s watch, and even bigger things like houses. By the end of the poem she ends up confronting and reflecting over the loss of her loved one, which in turn shows a more intense side of loss for her and how she as a person deals with it. Elizabeth Bishop uses repetition, and her own interjections to help convey her belief that loss is an everyday part of life, but it is how you deal with it that changes the situation. Bishop uses her repetition to describe an aspect of loss, and how it changes and affects people over time.
The following evaluation is based on the premise that good art is defined through creativity, popularity and masterful technique. Creativity cannot be something plagiarized, it must be uniquely used in its own way, therefore it is important to allow the viewer to appreciate the thought that the artist puts into their work. An example of what is not creative, A student copying an essay from a website or article. The second criteria is popularity, popularity is something that catches people’s eyes, something they can relate to and wanting to share it with others but it is also something that many people know about. Something unpopular has the characteristics of boring, dull and bland and it does not get people’s attention.
This idea fosters love for creating and exploring and discovering new methods of art. The art is elegant unpretentious and yet highly complex.” The accidental beauties of calligraphy are the puzzle pieces to the artist’s soul. The viewer identifies the differences in the art and recognizes the parts of the artists. Each complex irregularity is a complex characteristic of the artist. The irregularities of calligraphy are complex yet the art is simple. The paradoxical art of simplicity and complexity centers itself to communicate the self-expression of the artist.

Emin has her first solo show called “My Major Retrospective”. The autobiographical exhibit consisted of photographs, pictures of earlier paintings and other person objects, such as a pack of cigarettes her uncle was holding when he was killed in a car crash. The public display of the work and intimate life details became the trademark of her work and so many people were interested in it.
She is so prolific it is hard to see a clear line of development. But early paintings from Poland often have a solemn, stained glass feeling, and abstract art-derived panoramas with hills as well as trees succeeded these. Now she is declaring her liberation by moving toward images with a jazzy or Pop feeling. Other frequent, beguiling subjects include The Three Graces, who are often rendered like totemic figures, the kind Pollock evoked when he painted myths. In
The art work that was chosen for analysis is called “Untitled” by Anselm Kiefer. Kiefer used woodcut, shellac and acrylic on paper which were all mounted onto a canvas (metmuseum.org). According to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, “Untitled” is classified as a drawing, despite the use of acrylic which is a medium used in paintings (metmuseum.org). The painting is located in the Metropolitan Museum of Art located in New York City (metmuseum.org).
The idea of this piece is to show the connection between mother and daughter being painted. It shows the time and the classic style of the
The history of art dates back to ancient times. Artwork can be, and was, found around the world. What makes art interesting is that it can be created in any way, shape or form with any materials. It seems that the artwork can also tell us a lot about the artist. Art seems to be simply, a direct, visual reflection of the artist’s life. Therefore, one can assume that an artist’s life experiences and beliefs directly influence their art. If we look at examples from different periods of art we will be able to see the connection between the artist and the art.
Art is a form of human expression. Art can be seen as the artist sleight of hand on his mood. Art is in various media from posters to public wall of which we call “graffiti”. Art is elusive as the use of colors shapes and the surface used adds a new dimension. Art portrays various ideas, feelings such as triumph, love, happiness, sorrow and boredom in loss to mention a few. Art is beauty and creativity. During man’s evolution art has progressed over in its most primitive state up to its most modernized versions today.
