4.4 Explain how assessment arrangements can be adapted to meet the needs of individual learners In the learning environment it is important to ensure that assessment arrangements can be adapted for a wide audience. People entering assessment all have individual needs. Someone these needs can be affected by physical or mental disability or other aspects of their personal make up. These factors can affect a person’s ability and capacity to interact with assessments so care should be taken to ensure that these factors are taken into account when they are assessed. Assessments should not just be made available in one form. This will limit many candidates’ abilities to achieve success at their assessment. I will now review different factors …show more content…
An interpreter who speaks the candidate’s language could also help the candidate participate in the assessment. Resources could also be made available in the person’s own language or pictures used instead of words. A learner may have varying work patterns and therefore find it difficult to attend the assessments at the same time as other candidates due to their work commitments. It is important in these circumstances that the assessor has flexibility in their assessment arrangements and makes the assessment available at varying times and dates. It is important to ensure that the activities are planned and scheduled in advance to ensure that the candidate has advance notice of planned assessment dates and can make arrangements at work to attend or an alternative date could be made available. Assignments could be emailed to candidates instead to allow them to access them outside of normal working hours. 8.1, 8.3 Understand the legal and good practice requirements in relation to assessment In order for assessment to be conducted an assessor must ensure that they consider both legal and good practice requirements. These ensure that the assessment is conducted in a manner which is fair and accessible to all to meet legal requirements such as under the Equality Act 2010 and also assessment methods which have a proven track record of delivering success. Firstly equality and
(c) Here you will find an explanation of how 2 assessment methods can be adapted to meet individual learner needs.
2.2 The strengths and limitations of a range of assessment methods in relation to the individual learner needs:
Unit 1- 1.1, 1.2-This is a reflective account of the things I have done, experience and knowledge I have gained throughout the assessor 's course mainly during the process of assessment. First, I would like to describe the definition of assessment, its key concepts, stages to show the knowledge and understanding I have gained throughout the course. An assessment is a pre-agreed formal session with the learner. Assessment is judging performance against an agreed standard and is also a way of finding out if learning has taken place. It enables yo assessor to ascertain if learner has gained
The assessor needs to gather information that is personal from the learner in order to adapt and provide special needs that they might have. Also the assessor will need to treat all learners equally, ensuring that equality and diversity issue are met. Once this information has been gained, the assessor can then produce an action plan for the learner which is both realistic and achievable so they are comfortable to achieve the best possible results.
It covers a range of different assessments including competence, knowledge and understanding skills.’ Pg 35.
Explain legal issues, policies and procedures relevant to assessment, including those for confidentiality, health, safety and welfare
The assessor’s role is to judge whether the evidence from the learner meets the criteria for the relevant units being assessed and that the evidence is Fair, Valid and Reliable.
Before the assessment it is advisable to hold an informal briefing meeting to discuss the format of the assessment and to write up a plan. At the meeting the manager can provide the employee with the necessary paperwork for the assessment and provide them with the opportunity to collect information required to support their assessment.
We can use accredited interpreters, assessments that explore cultural factors, and allowing the time for this process. T
Describe with examples the importance of recognising and responding to concerns about children and young people’s development.
At any stage of the assessment process the progress of the learner can be reviewed and plans can be amended, updated or changed in agreement with the learner and according to need. This allows: learners to raise issues relevant to their needs for completion of the qualification; assessors opportunities to amend assessment plans if it becomes necessary; and flexibility if environmental or other factors arise (such as issues relating to any third party involved in the
The function of assessment in learning and development is to provide a measurable way of planning and supporting students’ progress. Assessment is carried out by means of checks and tests carried out throughout the course. Assessors should provide feedback throughout ensuring that learning is occurring and the learner is at the correct level. It is also important that assessor’s decisions are also consistently reviewed and internally and externally verified.
From the research they conducted, the Assessment Reform Group (2002) has identified ten key principles in relation to assessment for learning. The two that stood out when looking at assessment to meet the learners’ needs are:

6. Explain how you prepare the required resources needed to assess your candidate’s knowledge and prepare and maintain conditions that support the effective assessment of your candidate’s knowledge and understanding.I always prepare my resources needed prior to assessing. I ensure I have the standards I need, any worksheets or handouts needed, Planning forms, feedback forms and addition support handouts. I also take care of the learners portfolio keeping this locked up in a cupboard.I ensure that the environment is easy to work in and somewhere the learner can write or take notes. I try to avoid any distractions that may affect the learning. This evidence will be referenced to Unit 303 Assessment
