The human brain is a feat of evolution: it has allowed humans to have complex thoughts, conscience, build tools, create fires, and much more. Humans did not acquire this simply by chance. Evolution throughout our ancestral past has shaped and moulded the human mind to its state. On Tuesday October 4th, I got the opportunity to conduct my first-ever interactive read aloud. Even though having done a read aloud before, this was the first time with an activity, so it made me more nervous then normal. By conducting the read aloud helped me because I was able to identify certain areas that I need to improve in, and areas of my successes.

I want to begin with my opening statement about deaf issue. How come it is difficult for disabled people especially myself to have access to closed captioning on all video sites on the interest. Like for instance, people are required to watch a one hour first-aid educational video clip before taking an exam that allows a person to gain a state certification and the chance to be hired at the Texas Health Center. However, the Texas Health Center would not hire a person with a hearing disability due to failure on the exam because the video clip does not provide closed caption. People that are affected by non-captioning made a complaint to the Texas Health Center. But the problem is, the Texas Health Center still has not responded to this issue.

In addition, the limbic system is responsible for our perception of other emotions, both positive and negative, which explains the mood altering properties of many drugs. The cerebral cortex is divided into areas that control specific functions. Different areas process information from our senses, enabling us to see, feel, hear, and taste. The front part of the cortex, the frontal cortex or forebrain, is the thinking center of the brain, it powers our ability to think, plan, solve problems, and make decisions.

Let’s begin by discussing the parts and function of our brains. The neo cortex is the largest part of the brain and the most important. This part of the brain is divided into four different sections: the temporal lobe, occipital lobe, parietal and the frontal lobe. These four sections are located on either the right or left hemisphere of the brain they are connected by axons that send messages to and fro between both hemispheres and to specific parts of the brain then to the body. Explain that wearing the aids as often and as consistently as possible is essential to speech and language development for the child. The hearing aids provide access to sounds for the child and without this stimulation speech and language development will be negatively impacted. Auditory input is needed to help the child to learn to listen, if the aids are not being used and the auditory pathways of the brain are not being stimulated then the child will eventually lose that ability. The quality of the signal in the hearing aids is directly related to the child’s speech intelligibility. The more abstract things like memory from past meetings, our ability to have a conversation, the images your eyes take in, your inner ear, and the association area of the brain. These functions relate back to using the broca's area, hippocompus, hypothalamus, and the occipital lobe.

The cerebrum obtains information from an individual’s surroundings and their body, and then sends that information to a specific part of the cerebrum. The cerebrum interprets this knowledge and decides what must happen next. The muscles and sensory information from the left side of the body is controlled by the right side of the brain, and vice versa.

Occupies more than 80% of the brain, and contains over 10 billions neurones. The folds in the cerebrum are called ‘convolutions’, and are used to fit more neurones and information in. These folds increase its surface area by three times. It is here that the high intellectual functions of humans take place. The brain is such an amazing organ. The function of the brain is to receive information from other parts of the body, understand the information, and the figure out how to respond to the situation. The brain is responsible for such important things such as memory, body movements, the senses, and pretty much everything else. The average female brain weighs about 2.7lbs, and the average male brain weighs about 3lbs. The brain is also one of the fattest organs in the body. A little fun fact about the brain is that all of the blood vessels, located in just the brain, can stretch out to be 100,000 miles long. The human brain is the largest brain compared to all other living things around the same body size, and it makes up about 2% of the body weight.

The human brain is the most complex living structure within the human. It is the center of the nervous system. The parts of the brain include the cerebellum, spinal cord, frontal, parietal, temporal, occipital lobes. Without these parts, humans would not be able to function. Information is collected by the sensory system within the parietal lobe, and the motor system acts on this in the frontal lobe.

I didn’t know much about the brain actually until I read the two article that was provided. But it is helpful because it's good to know which part of the brain causes different problems. For example, in the Brain article it states that the hypothalamus controls hormone and the "hormones govern growth and instinctual behavior such as eating, drinking, anger and reproduction" (National Geographic, n.d.). Also, it's good to know what each part of the brain is and what it does like the cerebrum is the largest part of the brain and it "has two halves that divides into four region or lobes in each half. The frontal lobes are involved with speech, thought, learning, emotion, and movement. The parietal lobes, which process sensory information like touch, temperature and pain. The occipital lobes deal with the vision and the temporal lobes are involved with hearing and memory" (National Geographic, n.d.). Each of these lobes could be the effect of memory loss or any kind of brain
