Kudler Fine Foods Service Request SR-kf-013 22 December, 2014 BSA/375 Service Request The manager of Kudler Fine Foods, Kathy Kudler, has requested the development of a system to track customer purchases through a Frequent Shopper Program to award loyalty points for redemption. (Apollo, 2011) Key Stakeholders The key stakeholders are the individuals that are directly involved with Kudler Fine Foods and will have a direct effect on the overall project. These individuals will be the main source of information in the analysis, design, implementation and testing phase of the systems upgrade. Determine Requirements The determination of the requirements for this system is a key part in the development of the Frequent Shopper Program (FSP). There are many methods that can be used to properly determine the requirements needed for an efficient system. These can range from simple observation of current processes and interviews with employees and management, to Joint Application Design (JAD) procedures. The commonly used methods of observation, interviews, etc., can help analysts pinpoint exact requirements based on user input and business processes. According to Charvat (2003), “One of the biggest benefits of a proper user requirements specification is that you'll be able to plan and estimate your project correctly, decreasing the chance of cost and time overruns.” The analyst must listen to the employees and gain a thorough understanding of all business processes before establishing the new system requirements. The Joint Application Development (JAD) is a newer and more organized means of gathering information to base requirements on. This process is conducted by holding sessions in which key stakeholders and other key members of management are present and work together in the outline of the possible requirements.

The part of the job of the analyst in identifying a business need that looks interesting and enjoyable to me would be engaging the stakeholders (organization management, sponsors/champions, and system users among other stakeholders) in identifying the various business requirements. This, in my view, is one of the crucial areas because it would allow me as an analyst to understanding the state of an existing system and determine how a new system would impact on the business performance of an organization. Without a clear picture of the business requirements, there is a high likelihood that a new system would not bring the anticipated results. I would use my interviewing skills to get the different perspectives of the stakeholders as an initial step in system development. It is clear to me that interviewing, as a method of gathering business requirements, is sometimes cumbersome and time consuming. However, I am of the view that with the right skills in conducting interviews, an analyst can be able to probe deeper on issues and challenges of an existing system and the specifications that a new system is expected to meet. I would achieve this through conducting individual interviews, joint interviews as well as forming focus groups.
As part of the requirement gathering process, the team will interview some of the stakeholders, executives, and other employees of the hospital. In addition to interviewing, questionnaires would be handed out to the rest of the workers to find out what their needs are. After the interviews and questionnaires are completed, all of the requirements gathered will be reviewed by the team to decide which requirements are the most important ones that the software product is going to meet and in what type of device the software product is going to run. Since the software is going to be used in a hospital, the best devices to use are desktop computers and laptops.
Kudler Fine Foods wants to develop a system to track customer purchases through a Frequent Shopper Program to award loyalty points for redemption.
We all know that a company that can build trust and bring about a rewarding atmosphere of personal appreciation and contribution will develop workplace norms and behaviors that bring outstanding performance from its personnel. Of the companies on our list the ones chose to research were CHG Healthcare, Wegmans Food Markets and Google. All three of these organizations caught my attention for number reasons, but what got my attention the most and really made me choose them was how they value their employee’s and strive to satisfy their needs. Most of us strive provide the best way of life possible for our families. When searching for employment people
In regards to my current life stage, I am a young adult and almost all of my financial income is paid in wage from my occupation as a lifeguard. As I am not a parent of any kids, my financial expenses consist of paying for food, clothing, transportation, and school fees. Therefore, most of my expenses are centered around myself and focuses on future career plans to eventually increase my income as I will be able to attain a profession after acquiring a college education. Presently, I have not surrounded myself with assets because I have not acquired my college degree or decided upon a profession; as a result, I would not be able to search for appropriate assets.
Options A, B, and C. This chapter has three options depending upon your previous experience with a manual version systems project called the Systems Understanding Aid, written by the same authors as this computerized project. Option A is for students who have not used the Systems Understanding Aid before. Option B is for students who have completed the Systems Understanding Aid before using Transactions List A (Document No. 1). Option C is for students who have completed the Systems Understanding Aid before using Transactions List B (Document No. 1).
Next the evaluation of current and future opportunities available to Kudler Fine Foods would want to be evaluated. These opportunities could include technology upgrades, market positioning, diversification, or any other related areas. During this evaluation it might be useful to gather information from industry experts or consultants (MacVicar, 1996).
This week assignment was very interesting and fascinating. We are all born with gifts and talents. Having God-given gifts inside us that has the power to give life, direction, and purpose. First Peter 4:10 says” As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of Gods varied grace”. God works in different ways in each of us.
Kudler Fine Foods demonstrates compassion for the environment and its surrounding community. The company engages in the area food bank through contribution of its “day-old perishables” to the less fortunate. Kudler Fine Foods’ actively supports the art of “organic farming” because natural grown fruits and vegetables help in the protection of the environment. Kudler Fine Foods maintains its commitment toward continuing excellent relationships between its suppliers. The Kudler Company has meetings with each of its suppliers periodically to ensure the working relationship remains valuable toward both parties. Finally, Kudler
Kudler Fine Foods has requested a system to launch its new Frequent Shopper Program. This new initiative will track purchase behavior at the individual customer level. Through a partnership with a loyalty points program, Kudler will be able to offer their most valued customers high value incentives. Behavior patterns discovered from tracking purchases will enable Kudler to refine its processes and offerings to customers. Customers prefer Kudler’s Fine Foods because of the high quality foods. Rather than offering discounted prices for loyalty points redemption, Kudler will offer high value gifts to customers. This will promote the
The information system’s requirements in the systems planning phase are based on a case summary, potential interview questions, and the systems analyst’s experience in systems planning. One must not only generate requirements based specifically on what users’ state they want or need. Analysts must also generate requirements based on insight into the overall organization and project goals.
The liquidity, profitability, and solvency ratios reveal some interesting points about Kudler Fine Food’s financial position. The liquidity ratios revealed that during 2002 and 2003, Kudler was having no trouble paying short-term debt. However, the current and acid-test (quick) ratios showed that during 2003 Kudler had an excess amount of cash that they were not investing properly. These ratios also showed that Kudler was collecting receivables and selling average inventory very quickly. The profitability ratios revealed that during 2002 and 2003, Kudler was using assets efficiently and making a decent profit. The profit margin ratio
In this case, JAD is defined as a structured workshop where people come together to plan projects, design systems, or make business decisions (whether IT related or not). Today, JAD is commonly used for strategic business planning, strategic IS plans, IS architecture definition, re-engineering business processes, detailed system design, process and data modeling, and project management. This might be the broadest application of JAD so far.
The requirements gathering and analysis phase is the most critical phase for the overall success of the project because this phase helps “identify and capture stakeholder requirements using customer interviews and surveys” (Smith, 2016). In order to successfully capture software requirements from the stakeholder, developers need to conduct conference meetings to understand the capabilities of the software. This conference meeting usually takes place only once, so it is essential that developers collect all the information required for the software during the elicitation requirement meeting. For developers to be successful in collecting all the required information, it is a
