President Barack Obama was the very first African-American president of the United States of America. He has inspired me in so many ways, including: to be strong, be fair, have faith, and never discriminate. President Obama was also re-elected for a second term in 2012. Obama was an open minded president and never showed discrimination in any form. Before becoming president, Obama graduated from Harvard Law school. After he graduated, President Obama became a civil rights attorney and taught at the University of Chicago Law school. President Obama has been an inspiring and historical figure of the United States of America and the things he has accomplished are extraordinary.

President Obama is a man of understanding and is not the type to judge another person. President Obama never overlooked any problems nor was he bias because of a person's beliefs, race or gender. President Obama passed the Hate Crimes Prevention Act, which made it a crime to convict someone differently based on their sexuality or gender. Obama passed the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009. The act prohibits credit card companies from raising rates without advance notification and limits overdraft and other fees. According to Washington Monthly, President Obama cut the deficit from 9.8 percent to 3.2 percent during his two terms. I respect President Obama for treating everyone equally, including women versus men. Women are usually treated differently from men, including the huge difference of pay because of gender. President Obama passed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which prohibits pay discrimination. The act makes the pay equal for men and women working the same jobs and the right to sue their employers if they're suspicious about being discriminated. President Obama passed the housing act for homeless veterans. The rate of homeless veterans dropped by 50 percent after the act was passed. President Barack Obama is know for remarkable events such as becoming the first African American president of the United States; however, not everyone knows about what else Obama has done. He is also an author who has written around twenty books including a memoir about his early life leading up to his life in law school, and a children’s book dedicated to his daughters. His most famous book Dreams From My Father, a memoir about his early life leading up to law school, is a prime example of what influenced him to write. There were many things that happened in Obama’s life that caused him to write. Things such as the segregation happening in the U.S at the time, his broken home and his feelings towards his absent father.
He is the first African American to in history to run on a major ticket. In the beginning of his campaign a lot of people questioned his authority and wanted to know could he handle the responsibilities of a president for such a big country. “ I want to know how deep is your love for the people, what kind of courage have you manifested in the stances that you have and what are you willing to sacrifice for.
