Career Paper
My career goal is to become an FBI special agent. I would focus on the investigative aspect of the job. After researching what it takes to become an FBI special agent I found out that they look for people that fit into a strict criteria. First and foremost I would have to be at least 23 years old to apply and be a U.S. citizen (which I am), possess a driver’s license, and be available to travel everywhere. After fulfilling those basic requirements I would have to earn higher education, acquire experience, be physically apt, and pass an FBI background check ("Federal Bureau of Investigation").
To qualify for the FBI one must first work towards and complete a higher education. This means getting a four year degree at an accredited university. Although the degree that I would have to earn is not specified, I would focus on a criminal justice degree because it relates to the work done as a federal agent. If I would enter the possession of being an FBI agent I would have to take certain training and class that the FBI offers in order to specialize in my field.

I would fall into the diversified category. If I did qualify for one of the five categories I would then have to fall into a critical skill. The one that applies to me would be law enforcement/investigative experience. To even qualify for the law enforcement/investigative experience I would have to have had at least two years of full time investigative work for a law enforcement agency ("Federal Bureau of
For example, Law enforcement experience, Linguists and Engineers. The next phase is the physical aspect of the application. Special Agent applicants who pass the Physical Fitness Test are considered fit to safely and successfully complete the physical training and defensive tactics portion of Training at the FBI Academy (Grabianowski 2). The physical test consists of maximum number of sit ups in one minute, timed 300 meter sprint, maximum number of push-ups and timed one and a half mile run. Depending on the age and sex of the applicant, the amount will vary (Grabianowski 3). The next phase is the FBI background investigation. The background investigation includes: a polygraph test, credit and arrest checks; interviews with associates, personal and business references, past employers and neighbors; and verification of educational achievements (Grabianowski 4). The final phase is the medical examination. The medical examination is to determine whether any medical issue could affect the applicant's ability to perform the basic functions of the Special Agent position. This medical review ensures that each candidate's situation is reviewed on an individual basis. The medical examination also requires that applicants meet the Special Agent Vision Requirements and Hearing Requirements (Grabianowski 4).
The steps to become a DEA agent is a long journey. The Drug Enforcement Administration says that you must get a Bachelor's degree with a 2.95 GPA, masters, (in law enforcement) or J.D. or LL.B, or any special expertise in drug enforcement, military training or technical, engineering, or foreign language for more than 3 years. Then they have to demonstrate through their experiences in training: written and oral communication, decision making, judgement, interpersonal skills, integrity, honesty, flexibility, problem solving, self-management, teamwork, planning and calculating, technology application and law enforcement. Before you hit the training in Quantico Virginia, you have to take a qualifications review, written assessment and panel interview, drug tests, medical examination, physical task assessment, (PTA), polygraph exam, psychological examination, full field background investigation, and a firing hiring assessment. Then you go to training for 16 months in Quantico. The training is rigorous and very tough on your mental and physical state, but once you graduate, you will be top tier, and you will finally be ready to become a DEA agent. Personally, I believe I would be perfect for this job. I love challenges, and I love to challenge my body and mind by doing stuff like
I know how it feels to not have justice given or not get the help you deserve. I hope that doing this training will give me a jumpstart on pursuing my career and that it’ll help my resume in the future. I also hope that when I do this training I learn the true meaning of being an FBI Agent and I learn what it takes to be an FBI Agent. I am really interested in learning what an FBI’s job is and how they have to do their job and what duties they have to perform to be able to make this world a safer place. I hope that I can learn about the different scholarships available to kids like me that wish to further their education in the area of Law Enforcement. My dream is to get into a good college that will lead me to the right path of pursuing my dream. I want to prove to myself that I have what it takes to become an FBI agent and show myself that I have the qualities needed to become an FBI agent. I feel that doing this program will help confirm my dream and get me closer to it. What makes me a unique candidate is the experience I’ve gone through and how committed I am to achieving my dream and
My goal’s I attend to achieve in pursuing a certificate in Basic Law Enforcement are primarily to make an impact in the community. Furthermore, I enjoy the various jobs that Law Enforcement has to offer. Last reason, would be to be part of an exclusive organization that I can be proud of. My past experiences in my work history have been mostly related to customer service, problem solving, and interpersonal skills. I also have interacted with plentiful of people, on many different social levels and many diverse cultures.
To become a Border Patrol Agent, you would need to endure thirteen weeks of training. The Border Patrol is recognized as one of the most challenging curriculums in federal law enforcement. This academy requires you to complete firearm instructing, driving course, integrated law, and a physical fitness test. Any agent not
A career as a special agent right after college graduation investigating arson, explosives, firearms alcohol and tobacco, may sound far-fetched, but a presentation to students on Sept. 27 from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, ATF for short, was there to prove otherwise.
I believe I would be a good candidate for the FBI Citizen's Academy because I very involved with youth in the high school I work in. I truly believe that all teenagers have the ability to be active and productive citizens of their community. Some of the youth need more guidance than others. I would love to continue to show how and why it is important that the decisions they make today will affect their futures.
Well their job description is all over the place considering the different branches and fields there are. For example there is the regular FBI agent then there’s the fact that you can be in fa special agency. Plus three are a lot of different agencies. Some of the things they do in these agencies include, “finger printing, lab services, public affairs, or manage”(FBI.gov). All of these different jobs are completely different considering that one day you would have to talk to a lot of people, and tell people what to do, and in the other you would have to sit behind a desk and never come in contact with anyone. This means that you would have to be flexible, and be lenient as to what you do on a daily bases. Another thing the fbi does is “detect and disrupt terrorist sleeper calls” (work.chron.com). This is another example of the diversity in the job. This also shows how important you are to the u.s , and how you will be put under pressure in your job. So if you don’t like being put in tough situations and being put under pressure, then this is probably not a suitable job for you. Another thing the FBI does is “work with lots of cyber-crime” (fbi.gov) This means that you’re going to need to be able to work , and properly work a computer . You would also need to have a liking to them considering they will be used all the time in the agency. Again if this is a problem then this job probably isn’t for
In the paper I’m going to write, I`ll be expressing the life of an FBI SWAT member, The parts I`ll be expressing the most in this paper is how do they connect with family, what is the mental aspect for them, what`s their physical health like and do they have a social life? Man doesn’t your mind just wonder when you hear the FBI? Well of course you will have so many questions like who are they? Why are they so important, how do you get to involved?
They think that watching CSI, Criminal Minds, and Chicago P.D. that it’s pretty accurate to having a career as an FBI agent. It’s not at all what it seems. It could take months to years to become an FBI agent. There is requirements like any other job. To become an FBI agent you must have a bachelor’s degree and have some kind of law enforcement experience. You must be between the ages of 23-36 years of age when applying. You have to take and pass a background check and a security clearance check. You have to take a psychological test. You have to pass a verbal, physical, medical, and written exams. After all the information is collected and evaluated hiring decisions can be made.
Nevertheless, there is always the need for somewhat of education and experience. For instance, an applicant can have any of the following: have a bachelor's degree, with a grade point average of 2.95 or higher, special consideration will be given to candidates with degrees in Criminal Justice/Police Science or related disciplines; Finance, Accounting or Economics; Computer Science/Information Systems; Telecommunications/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering; Political Science, Psychology; Sociology; Chemistry; and a foreign language including Spanish, French, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, Dialects of Nigerian, Chinese/Mandarin, or Japanese. A candidate should also possess specialized professional experience conducting independent narcotics investigations of alleged or suspected violations of the law; conducting surveillance and undercover activities or operations, and apprehending, arresting persons suspected of violations; and
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, is a law enforcement and national security organization. “The mission of the FBI is to protect and defend the United States against terrorist and foreign intelligence threats, to uphold and enforce the criminal laws of the United States, and to provide leadership and criminal justice services to federal, state, municipal, and international agencies and partners” (“Quick Facts”). There are many different qualifications and requirements to become an FBI Special Agent but the salary and career outlook make them worth it.
Being an FBI agent is a very tough and strenuous job. Becoming an FBI agent is a whole other accomplishment in itself. To become an FBI agent you would need to have a superb background with the law enforcement. If you have no background in law enforcement this will not be the career for you. An FBI agent works mainly with criminal investigation, long desk hours just doing research (FBI agent, 2014). Also having good communication skills would be a good trait to have. You will have to be able to calm people down in high stress situations or just be able to talk to someone from another country. An FBI agent needs to have an absolute understanding of their job duty, they are required to have a certain level of education, and they will need to acquire some useful skills to help them out.
Border Patrol Agents protect land and water and from above from the wrong people trying to come into the USA. The requirements you need to become an agent are not being a convicted felon, have a valid driver's licence, and meet educational requirements such as having a high school diploma to a master’s degree depending on the position you would like to acquire. The working condition for agents is mostly outdoors in the hot sun or inside an office depends on which one you want, there salary is given by their grade level. They have quite a bit of benefits such as Health Care and Flexible Vision and Dental Plan and many more. There is no current job openings.
If I do become apart of the FBI my duties are to gather information, interview people, search records to unlock a new clue, and more. It is possible for me to go undercover to reveal more clues. Most of my work is done on computer so I will definitely need technology background. I watch people's schedule. I watch them when they ar home or leave to go somewhere. I do need to know the law well though because I have to follow the
