Ludwig van Beethoven also referred to as, “The Master” was born on December 16, 1770 in the city of Bonn, which is today known as Germany (Chiego 12). Ludwig van Beethoven’s life was filled with many amazing accomplishments and failures. Out of many of Beethoven’s works that was created his fifth symphony is one of the most famous works of music ever written.
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn; he was the son of Maria Magdalena and Johann van Beethoven, who was a musician. The Beethoven family being known as commoners would cause repetitive complications for Ludwig including dissatisfactions in his love life and in legal proceedings” (Chiego 12). In the Beethoven family there were seven children, however only Ludwig and two younger brothers, Casper Anton Carl and Nikolaus Johann, survived as a baby. (“Ludwig van Beethoven”). Ludwig showed talent for music at a very young age. “Soon Ludwig learned music and was given instruction in, piano, violin, viola, a composition, and notably the organ” (Chiego 12). Beethoven’s musical training was very patchy. “However, he made his first public appearance at the age of seven, playing clavier at a concert given by one of his father’s students. By the age of eleven, Beethoven was studying with Christian Neefe, who gave lessons in theory, composition, organ, piano, and continuo playing as well as opening up the world of J.S. Bach.
