Benjamin Carr: A Brief Biography

The moment Benjamin Walker Grimes was born he knew he’d change the world. That person was me.I was born on march 7th 2006 in Mtn Home Arkansas and in that one year there was an ice storm which made it a struggle for my mother to keep me safe. I am the brother of one sibling and the child of two parents.

Slaves were compelled to perform vigorous labor everyday for seven years in hope for a day that their master will release them. Benjamin Banneker was a son of a former slave who had wrote a letter to ex-US Secretary of State, Thomas Jefferson in hope for Jefferson to take role in part of abrogating enslavement. Although Banneker was born as a free man, his determination of resolving servitude had brought himself to construct a letter to Jefferson. Through the use of emotional diction, tone, and religious allusion, Banneker emphasizes his passion for freeing slaves of America.

By 1891 Benjamin had moved along with his daughter Julie Ann and her husband Donald McDonald, Robert, with his youngest son, William H. was living with a young family of 3, Ned Wyld, Margaret and young daughter Mary. Benjamin Franklin was born in Boston on January 17, 1706. He was the tenth son of his soap making father, Josiah Franklin. Ben loved learning and reading as a kid, but his father took him out of school at just ten years old so he can work in the family business, a candle and soap shop. At 12 he began apprenticing his old brother in a print press shop.

Benjamin O. Davis, Sr., was born in Washington, D.C., on July 1, 1877. Davis attended M Street High School in Washington where he participated in the school's cadet program. During his senior year of high school, he took some classes at Howard University. His father, a messenger for the Interior Department, and his mother, a nurse, urged him to enroll in college after high school. He entered the military service on July 13, 1898, during the War with Spain as a temporary first lieutenant of the 8th United States Volunteer Infantry. He was mustered out on March 6, 1899, and on June 18, 1899, he enlisted as a private in Troop I, 9th Cavalry, of the Regular Army. He then served as corporal and squadron sergeant major, and on February 2, 1901, he was commissioned a second lieutenant of Cavalry in the Regular Army. Following many years of service, he became an adviser for the military on racial discrimination, pushing for full integration of the armed forces. He earned a Bronze Star Medal and Distinguished Service Medal. Davis spent much of his time teaching others as a professor of military science and tactics at Wilberforce University in Ohio and the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama.

His medical break though was not an easy thing to acomplish becaouse of his multiple childhood issues and the environment in which he grew up in. but nevertheless, he overcame his prior issues and continued with his plan to be nuero sergion despite any obstacles he faced along the way.
