Karl Marx, a historian and political theorist, believed that there would be a great revolution involving the proletariat, or working class who sell their labor, and the bourgeoisie, who control the means of production. Because the bourgeoisie controlled the means of production, the proletariat were under the control of the bourgeoisie, and had to sell their labor even though the work was alienating to them. Working in factories was the only job they could land, but were forced to do so to survive. The actions of the bourgeoisie and proletariat prove
Marx’s idea that everything done in society is for capital gains, or money. Marx proposed that the proletariat would rise up and all would become one class, working together for the society.
