Leadership can make or break an operation as is sets the operational structure and the amount of power each individual has. No matter what a manager must be able to effectively lead a team. They need to be able to motivate individuals and keep them on task so they may reach their goal within a timely manner. Without leadership an operation can fall to pieces if employees lack direction, are unaware of the goal, or lack the passion to execute their task properly. Theory X and Y are interesting and important topics of lesson 16 because they can help a manager identify their

Inferential statistics helps us to analyze predictions, inferences, or samples about a specific population from the observations that they make. “With inferential statistics, you are trying to reach conclusions that extend beyond the immediate data alone” (Trochim, 2006). The goal for this type of data is to review the sample data to be able to infer what the test group may think. It does this by making judgment of the chance that a difference that is observed between the groups is indeed one that can be counted on that could have otherwise happened by coincidence. In order to help solve the issue of generalization, tests of significance are used. For example, a chi-square test or T-test provides a person with the probability that the analysis’ sample results may or may not represent the respective population. In other words, the tests of significance provides us the likelihood of how the analysis results might have happened by chance in a scenario that a relationship may not exist between the variables in regards to the population that is being studied.

“The images, metaphors, or frames that we hold, both of managing and of change, influence our ideas of what we think managing change is all about” (Palmer, Dunford, & Akin, 2009). As people we all see through our own eyes, we call see a different perspective and have a different reaction to what is coming next. As human beings we react differently to situations. Situations of change are transitions that some are able to adapt to quickly while others have a hard time. Being the leader of that change can be difficult and helping make a change does not come easily or effectively. Keep and Newcomer (2008)

There are so many different styles of leadership. According to Leadership, Ethics and Policing: Challenges for the 21st Century (2nd ed.) leadership could be defined as a set of traits or characteristics that a person could posses. It is very crucial not to confuse leadership and management because they cannot be used interchangeably. Leadership occurs when an individual motivates his co-workers or individuals to accomplish the goals of the organization. Leaders produce a change because they establish direction; aligning their people and motivating them to be successful. Management in the other hand involves directing

Leadership is one of those terms that get used very often, but it has a variety of meanings. The traits you use as a leader always changes depending on the time, place, and situation, and it is the good ones that knows when to make the change. Leadership also has many styles Example, do you use dictator like style, who rules with an iron fist and persecutes people with different ideas, or do you have a more democratic approach. “Every leader has a particular style of leadership that is innate. However, the behaviors, attitudes or methods of delivery that are effective for one staff member may in fact be counterproductive for another,” says Michael Burke, account supervisor, MSR Communications, a public relations firm. “Great leaders are aware of their own style and make the effort to learn how their style actually comes across to their team. They learn to flex their leadership style to individual team members so that they communicate and behave in ways that motivate and inspire.”
Immediately following the assignment, we had a conference to discuss and brainstorm ideas to keep our momentum going. During each of the conferences, we each had deliverables and assignments we would take on and have prepared for the next conference. In addition, we would schedule the next meeting time during the conference. An outlook meeting reminder was sent to each member recapping their assignments and the meeting time and date. Each team member was always prepared with their assignments and would email their work or post it on our collaboration site. It was easy to maintain a direction as the group would always agree and assign themselves the tasks to capitalize on their strengths and abilities.
Leadership is just one of the many assets a successful manager must possess. Care must be taken in distinguishing between the two concepts. The main aim of a manager is to maximize the output of the organization through administrative implementation.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines Leadership as the power or ability to lead other people. However, a person’s power or leadership ability can be influenced by different factors. These factors range from something as simple as the mood the leader is in that day to the culture the leader grew up in. These factors can trigger either positive or negative behavior in both the leader and/or their team members. These factors may also affect the leader for a short while or may cause lasting effects on their leadership style. Either way it is important for the leader to work through any factors that may negatively affect his or her ability to lead a group.
Strong and successful companies need a strong and successful leader. Leadership is defined as the access to the target with the best means and the lowest cost within the limits of resources and facilities available with the proper use of resources and facilities. It is known as a social interaction, because it is possible for anyone to be a leader without acting leadership with individuals in certain situation. Paul J.H.
1.1Evaluate leadership theories Leadership is the ability to influence the actions of an individual or a group for the achievement of goals in a given situation. “Leadership is the ability to secure desirable actions from a group of followers voluntarily without the use of coercion.”(Alford and Beatty) Management Vs Leadership According to Stephen Covey “Leadership focuses on doing the right things, management focuses on doing things right. Leadership make sure that ladders we are climbing are leaning against the right wall, Management make sure we are climbing the ladders in the most efficient way. However Managers exist only in organised structures whereas leaders can be there even in case of unorganised groups.
