Career Research Essay

This discipline i choose for my career field description was structural engineering with is a branch of civil engineering. Structural engineering focuses on the framework of structures and designing structures to withstand the stresses and pressures of their environment and remain safe, stable, and secure throughout their use. In other words, structural engineers make sure that buildings don't fall down and bridges don't collapse. Structural engineering is among the oldest types of engineering, dating back to the first instance of tree branches being lashed together with vines to make a shelter. Throughout history, people have been designing and building increasingly larger and more sophisticated structures, from small huts to the International Space Station.

First, I agree with this career assessment because it says that I’m a conventional person. The test describes me as a typical and ordinary and follower of accepted standards of behavior or taste, which is correct. I like to do thing as easy as possible, but also well done. So by following rules I’m going to be a successful person. Also the results showed me that I can be a good leader.

The future; after high school, after college, the future is a later time period that will happen in one’s life. For my future I plan to attend college and later become an engineer. College is one of the best choices available for high school graduates to ensure a successful future. Colleges offer specialized learning that when attended can open many opportunities. Two colleges I may attend after high school are Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) or California Institute of Technology (Caltech). After college I plan to choose a career in the field of engineering. Two career possibilities are Aerospace Engineering or Biomedical Engineering. By researching these two universities and two possible careers, I have learned about the many possibilities that lie ahead for my future.

I decided to go with a career in astronomy. An astronomer is a scientist who tries to understand the wonders of the Universe as well the wonders beyond our universe. Astronomers also study the stars, planets, and other galaxies (“Careers in Astronomy | IAU”). I chose a career in astronomy because I have always been fascinated by space and how the universe works. It is extremely important to understand education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, the salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career when making the decision.

A veterinary career is not a goal easily met, nor quickly met; but I know few people can say they love what they do, and the hurdles I will have to face are worth getting to be one of those people. Veterinarians come into work everyday, whether that be a clinic, farm, or lab, treating and diagnosing medical conditions in animals. Depending on the type of veterinarian, this can range from household pets to exotic or endangered species. This is something I have imagined working towards since I was able to comprehend what a career was, and I have only gotten more determined. However, there are several aspects I could have not been aware of; through research, I have gained a better understanding of this career and the tedious road to achieving it, as well as the rewards; and there still is not anything I would rather pursue.

For me a Career is a livelihood profession carried out for a significant period of a person's life and with opportunities for progress. A career is often composed of the jobs held, titles earned and work accomplished over a long period of time, rather than just referring to one position. It’s difficult to find a good career in which you can excel and move up for example, becoming a principal from a teacher, air force officer from a pilot ant etc.

I have chosen to become a counseling psychologist who specializes in helping people choose their careers. I chose this career because I would like to help people who are struggling to find the career that is right for them. According to the American Psychological Association, counseling psychologists assist people in understanding and taking action on career and work issues, they notice how issues and human beings vary across the lifespan, and they have a huge appreciation for the “influence of differences” among people (race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability status) on mental well-being (n.p). I wish to help people choose the best career for them based on their interests.

Coupled with traditional beliefs in Pakistani society and my mother’s early marriage, she never had a multitude of opportunities available to her. In society when my parents were growing up education for girls was more of a formality so that the literacy rate would increase. There were no expectations for girls to further their education even if they wanted to and therefore there was not a lot of support of girls who wanted to continue into careers. She also married very early in her twenties and had children very soon after which ate up her time. So, my mother received her Pakistani equivalent of a high school diploma, but not anything more. Even though she did not receive a post-secondary education, alongside minimal

registered nurse in the state of California. Within four years I would like to obtain my bachelors in nursing. I want to specialize in pediatrics and I plan on working in a hospital as a pediatric registered nurse for a couple of years. After some time my career specialty may change depending on where I feel God has called me. I am also interested in neo-natal intensive care, pediatric orthopedics, and pediatric emergency medicine. In the future I would like to further my education and become a nurse practitioner.

I was introduced to Psychology through a career assessment based on an assortment of activities (giving advice, researching, teaching, etc.) and character traits. After researching the field of Psychology, I became interested into Neuropsychology as I learned about the cognitive development of children and after my mother suffering from a transient ischemic attack and later on a stroke. Hi, I am Leanna and this is my second year at BCC. I am not sure yet on what I want to major in or what type of career I would like to pursue in. I am leaning towards psychology or nursing. However, I really enjoy history, mostly ancient Greek and Egyptian mythology. Right now, I am just taking several GED classes that relate to psychology, nursing, and history. Family, reading books, and watching movies are very important to me. Friends always seem to come and go, but my large family has always been a constant. I love to read and watch movies because they allow me to escape the pressures of the outside world for a few hours. I decided to take this class because I realized I do not know much about other religions except for the one I was raised

Over the course of my formative years, my career plan has changed and evolved to better fit the person I grew up to be. My mother worked hard over the first few to convince me I should go into the medical field; consequently, at the time I wanted to be anything but a doctor. The closest I came to medicine was when I wanted to be a veterinarian, but once I realized veterinarians do not just spend the entire day playing with dogs the idea was transient. Eventually, I came around. I decided I would become a dermatopathologist, the type of dermatologist that performs biopsies of the integumentary system and then runs tests the area removed to make a diagnosis. For a while, it seemed like dermatopathology would stick, I even met a dermatopathologist, but I yet again changed my mind. Thankfully, I noticed a few commonalities: all my future plans seemed to be ambitious and for the most part directly related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields.

There are many different career paths in life, but eventually you have to narrow it down so you can know what you want to do in your life. I haven’t really figured out what I want to do, but right now I have some things that I would like to do. They include being a NBA player, an orthodontist, or a teacher and a coach at a school.

For the longest time I could not decide on a major and a career to study throughout college. When I came to Georgia Southern University I discovered that they had a major that was very interesting to me. Sport Management id the ideal major for my interest and me. Since I love sports I figured that this would be the career for me. A degree in Sport Management helps to prepare for success in sport related occupations.
