Beverly Medical Center is a small operated physician’s office in Raleigh, NC. It is a physician office that combines the practices both traditional and holistic medicine. With new and current health care trends favoring the practices of holistic medicine and therapy, Beverly Medical Center popularity has risen as well as the number of patient. Currently, Beverly Medical Center uses the traditional check-in process where staff member check-in patients and where patients are ask to fill out there forms using pen and paper on arrival. Beverly Medical Center also uses a paper filing system as it main source of data storage of patient information and records. The problem that arises for Beverly Medical Center is that due to its popularity and the growth of the number of patients wanting to visit the office, the medical center is looking for alternative to deal with their check-in times and looking for solutions to deal with the volume of data that comes with the increase of patient load. In Beverly Medical Center’s case a solution to its current problem is to create an automated form process system that will allow patients to send their patient information electronically, where receptionist and staff member their can easily manage the influx of information sent to the office daily. This electronic form solution can help alleviate the wait times at Beverly Medical center by that patients can fill their application before arrival for their appointment on that day, the
Metrolina Comprehensive Health Center was started by Dr. Charles Warren Williams in the Charlotte city of North Carolina along with several other medical colleagues of his. Dr. Charles expired when the hospital had just started operating; post his death the hospital was renamed as C.W. Williams Health Centre.
In the current fast paced world there is a huge demand for health care services administrators and also there is tremendous weight on them to enhance the productivity to match up the demand. Effective appointment organizing system is the determination of patient’s satisfaction and timely access to health services. The measure of efficiency depends upon many factors like investment on equipment, resources allocation and number of trained staff. The principal type of patient appointment encounters are primary care, specialty care, elective surgeries and these are again subdivided into scheduled and unscheduled visits. Each of these environments has certain unique features which makes making appointments troublesome and also diminishes efficiency and has two major access delays Indirect and Direct.
The use of technology in HIM department works out well and effectively. Each patient who is new is assigned a unique medical record number and it always remains the same for the patient each time he/she want to get health care from this health care system. Another system
University Medical Center has recently upgraded to an electronic medical record system. The goal of this system is to create more efficient, reliable, and accessible charting and medical records for doctors, nurses, and patients. When first discussed, the staff acted favorably towards it. However, with the system now in place, the staff is having a hard time adjusting. The staff nurses believe that the charting takes time away from patient care. Charting is taking longer than it did using paper documentation. The nurses also notice that doctors’ orders are being entered wrong. They state that this is a huge issue, especially concerning medications because some staff may overlook the dosages, over-relying on the barcode scanners. Another major complaint is system downtime. The electronic medical record has only been implemented a month ago and there has already been three episodes of downtime. These issues, as well as the news of hackers accessing medical records of neighboring hospitals, have made the implementation of electronic documentation a slow process.
Health care providers as well as nurses must keep track of all pertinent patient information and failure to do so leads to detrimental effect on the patient's life. CIS clinical information systems are "large, computerized database management systems that support several types of activities that include physician order entry, result retrieval, documentation and decision support". CIS is intended to replace medical records department of a hospital or any other medical institution. Physicians and clinicians can safely and quickly access information, order medication and treatments and implement appropriate care. CIS will hopefully improve productivity, increase quality care and reduce costs across the organization.
As the political race for the Whitehouse evolves, so do the issues influencing society. There is much to be desired of the political system. Healthcare is a struggling environment for consumers. The current system lacks the ability to provide care efficiently and is burdening to the consumer. Candidates understand that any significant issue must be solved in iterations, one must apply this principle to healthcare. A system that accomplishes one task is better than one which attempts to account for everything wrong. One area that can be addressed is appointment scheduling. Various appointment systems have been studied thoroughly to address this issue. The goal of this material is to devise a system that would adequately use this information to create a system as it would pertain to a local clinic with one working physician as well as a receptionist.
In Stage 3, enhancements to the UMUC Family Clinic business process will be proposed by recommending HIT (health information technology) solution, consisting of a certified EHR (electronic health system)/EMR (electronic medical records) system. Once this system is implemented, it will immediately improve the current process. Customer complaints are high, and the focus is on the long wait times and redundant processes when a patient arrives to be checked in. Moreover, some nurses are not readily available, because they are preoccupied with other administrative duties within the practice. Inconsistent record keeping practices lead to additional time searching for patient records. A HIPPA violation may be detected if a patient’s record is misfiled or lost; henceforth, creating a need for supplemental time and possible duplication of another medical record may be required. This process can be greatly improved by the HIT solution using a terminal loaded with the EHR solution. This will allow patients the ability to enter all of their health record information upon their arrival and that information will be instantly available to the nurses and doctors. This process will also give the patient the opportunity to validate the information and make any necessary changes (benefit information, addresses, phone numbers, and medications).
The organization is using traditional ways of storing business information that is in papers and registers. The information is growing exponentially and tracking the patient’s information is time consuming. To improve business and to effectively streamline the business hospital needed a database.
There are many advantages with the implementation of electronic medical records for the patient. One important advantage is the ability for the patient’s medical record to be shared amongst the patients other physicians. Information that can be shared includes recent labs, diagnostic testing, and prescribed medication. Another advantage is patients are provided access to certain medical information in his or her medical record through a patient portal. This allows patients to have a more active role in their health care. One disadvantage for patients is many feel that once electronic medical records are implemented, office visits become less personal due to the medical assistant, nurse, and/or physician is too busy answering questions on a computer or tablet.
A Hospital Information System (HIS) would be beneficial for Patton-Fuller Community Hospital (PFCH) and a way to integrate telecommunication. Hospital Information System is a computer system that manages all the information needed for health care providers so they can give quality care to patients. The article “Hospital Information System (HIS)” explains, “Modern HIS includes many applications addressing the needs of various departments in a hospital. They manage the data related to the clinic, finance department, laboratory, nursing, pharmacy and also the radiology and pathology departments” (2014). HIS has advanced since it was first
To help serve our patients and their families, we will be making some changes to our parking lot and asking for your assistance to help with this improvement. We would like to keep these spots available for patients, their families and guests.
Taking into consideration of rising health care costs, inconsistent in the quality of service being provided, insurance companies being over charged repeat of unnecessary testing, health information records not being properly kept up, or miss placed patient personal information and other data that is not properly being kept in place. One of the things about technology is that make a complicated system less complicated. According to the American Journal of Medicine, electronic medical record systems improve the quality of patient care and decrease medical errors. The electronic medical records processes make it easy to track all information of a patient visit, which include testing, medication and treatment plans. For them, this was a good way to get feedback on the implementation of electronic medical records it ranged from March 2008 until September 2008. In seen the problems that are being incurred due to implementation they can avoid the barriers to or facilitators of the
Ms. Thompson resisted compliance with the new Occupational Safety Administration requirement because she’s comfortable in doing things the way they have always been done. Especially since the surrounding hospitals were not changing she felt that there was no need to change either. Also she felt that training would take her staff away from doing their job. It would also cause them to work more and she doesn’t feel like the change is worth the cost.
Sophisticated electronic records and computer systems for tracking patient care is another important attribute of Kaiser. Since five years, Kaiser is using the electronic information to identify and evaluate providers’ strengths and weaknesses in order to improve the quality of care (Abelson, 2013). The organization also uses the electronic records to improve its care delivery, e.g. by identifying at-risk patients and establishing alert and reminder systems for quick and timely care
