1) Introduction
About the organization:
Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) was established in 1974 and is Malaysia’s leading international petroleum corporation .It is owned by Malaysian government and it sources, produces and delivers products to meet Malaysia’s growing energy needs while playing the role of a frontrunner for its national reserves.
The Petronas group, consisting of 180 subsidiaries and spread over 50 countries, is engaged in a wide spectrum of petroleum activities that include exploration, production of oil and gas to oil refining; marketing and distribution of petro-based products; gas processing and liquefaction; gas transmission; pipeline network operations; marketing of LNG; shipping; and property investment.

• Downstream oil refinery and petrochemicals: Petronas operates through four crude oil refineries with a combined capacity of 448000 barrels a day. This refined oil is marketed to south-east Asia and Africa. Petronas also plans to set up two integrated petrochemicals complexes. Petronas chemical marketing, a subsidiary of Petronas, markets the peoducts to Malaysian and foreign customers.
• Gas & power: Petronas’ gas and power is involved in processing, liquefaction, transmission, marketing and trading of LNG and gas.
• Logistics: Petronas’ shipping subsidiary, MISC Berhad undertakes Petronas’ logistics. Its primary business is ship owning, ship operating, marine conversion etc. It also provides logistical and heavy engineering services as well.
