1. What did Holden think of the show at Radio City? Holden though Radio City phony and ridiculous. At the time Holden stayed at the Radio city, there was a Christmas parade. Especially, as Holden hates religion that he is not fond of talking about Catholics, he thought the city as trivial and superficial. Holden despised watching “all these angels start coming out of the boxes and everywhere”; the parade was gaudy and “mad,” and for “god’s sake,” he could not see “anything religious or pretty” (137) 2. Starting from “conversation” about Luce’s girlfriend, Holden asked about who she was, what she was, and how old she was, etc. Luce wanted to “refuse to answer any typical Caulfield questions tonight,” but he could not resist with Holden badgering him to talk about his girlfriend (146). At the end of the asinine conversation, as Luce cannot tolerate Holden, Luce recommended Holden to go to his father, a psychoanalyst. When Holden refused, Luce gave up and left Holden alone. 4. Why did Holden go home so early (before Wednesday)? Feeling vulnerable, Holden went home earlier than he planned because he imagined of getting pneumonia and die in the middle of the street. Poor and alone, Holden started the “childish way to thinking,” how Phoebe, Holden’s sister, would react when Holden would die (156). Holden is cognizant of how much Phoebe likes him, so he wanted to go to home early before he “died” of pneumonia.
