You would have to keep focus, have good eye sight, steady hands, good concentration to be a welder. I would like to think that I have majority of these traits, and I have a desire to get into this feild and be successful in it. Welding is the process of joining pieces of metal or other parts by heating the surfaces to the point of melting using a blow torch, electric arc, or other means. This careers demand has skyrocketed in recent years. According to Tri-County Technical College, welding is ranked as one of the top ten fastest growing career fields in South Carolina by the US Department of Labor (“Welding Associate's Degree”). Welding is a very meticulous career, to be a welder you have to be focused, careful and you have to have an extensive knowledge of the field to be successful. You need the right certifications to be able to ever think about welding on the pipeline. before you can start your new job as a pipeline welder you need to take the test the company requires. different companies require you to have different certs. this all depends on the size type and what kind of welding you will be doing on the pipe. on of the rarest type used is the 1 g this is where you lay the pipe in a horizontal position and the pipe can be rotated as a you weld. on of the hardest certifications to get is the six g. this is where the pipe is set at 45 degree angle at a fixed position. in some cases you may be able to substitute the 6 g for a combination of 2 and 5g which is the 2g being in the vertical position and the 5g horizontal

I have literally known what I want to be since I was a toddler. Of course, as a three-year old putting together Legos, I could not have verbalized that I want to be a mechanical engineer. However, it was at that time that I began to develop and use the skills that I will need for my desired career. I began to consider how parts went together and the different components necessary to build and sustain various systems. Part of the inspiration was the simple fun that I had while putting together these small toys, but part of my inspiration was my father. He was a maintenance turn-around coordinator at an oil refinery, which led to my own desire to work as a mechanical engineer in a refinery one day. As I grew older, my interest in mechanical engineering remained constant, though I expanded my interest beyond the oil refineries. In fact, after attending a pre-college program, Jackling Introduction to Engineering, offered by Missouri Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri in the summer of 2011, I realized that engineering was the perfect way to exercise my curiosity and inventiveness in a constructive and productive manner.
