While both Christians and Muslims agree on a life after death of either Heaven or Hell, the differences in their views of the afterlife reflect on how they each see God and what their main goal was to accomplish on earth. Both Christians and Muslims have a Holy Book to follow. Christians have the Bible and Muslims have the Qur’an. Both religions use these books as a guideline to eventually get to Heaven. Where the differences start to affect the afterlife is who each religion prays to. Christians pray to Jesus as God’s Son but Muslims pray to Muhammad. Because of this, Muslims say that Christianity is faulty (Schirrmacher). In the Bible, Christians are assured Salvation when they accept Christ as their personal Savior. Muslims are not assured

Islam and Christianity are both Abrahamic religions, meaning they have their roots from the prophet Abraham of the old testament. Both religions share much of their history with each other, only differing when it comes to Jesus. When it comes to religion, Christianity and Islam influenced many empires throughout the ancient world, including the Islamic Caliphates and the Byzantine Empire. In comparison, both empires had religious splits and caused holy wars to come to fruition. However, the languages and their unifying (or dividing) factor was also a problem for the Byzantines which the Caliphates did not have. These influences altered history in memorial ways which we see today.

Christians believe the Bible is the complete Word of God; the New Testament of the Bible contains Gospels of Jesus Christ. Islamic follow the Qur’an, which they consider to be without errors. The Qur’an covers a wide variety of topics and discusses figures who are also found in the Christian Bible. Muslims believe the Qur’an is God’s Word revealed to Muhammad.

Many religions have impacted the thoughts and beliefs of millions around the world. Two of these religions are Islam and Christianity, both of which are similar, yet, incredibly different. Christianity, which had come long before Islam, is known to be the root of Islam which makes sense since the two religions share much in common. They are both Abrahamic and monotheistic religions which means they share the belief in only one true existing God and are rooted to have many similarities. Their differences, however, are what make them two distinctive religions, which is why they are recognized and classified for being so. At the first glance, Islam and Christianity appear to have nothing in common, however; as you go beyond the surface, they appear to have many similarities such as their beliefs of God, their beliefs of life after death, their holy scriptures, and their prayers. These religions, although are two entirely different beliefs, share a similar origin. Like many other religions, they both claim to be the one and only true way to God. In order to truly see and understand their similarities, one must date back to the rise and birth of Christianity and Islam. Throughout the course of this essay, I will compare the many facets that show the alikeness between these two growing religions.
