No one would want to be told that they are not allowed to do something they love. Smoking cigarettes is one of those actions that people have an already set opinion. Americans have the freedom to smoke, whether twenty or eighty years old and they do not want to be told they cannot smoke at any point in time. Men and Women smoke cigarettes for positive reasons, so it should not become illegal. Thus, People smoke for medical purposes, to feel relaxed or stress free, and just due to the fact that they have the right to smoke.

The first reason that tobacco should be illegal is because of its effects on the United States economy. In the United States tobacco has harmed the economy because it has taken away from the price discounts that can be given out for products because tobacco products alone account for 84.3% of all of these discounts.This means that for things that people require to live, like food or water , have not received the discounts that they may require. The prices of have increased and people are spending more on products that they need while tobacco products which are not essential to live have been received the discounts. Another example is the amount of money spent on treating. In the United States alone “nearly $170 billion in direct medical care for adults” who suffer from a tobacco related illness (). This means that if tobacco was made illegal the amount of money spent on the medical bills could be put to use for other expenses. With the repurposing of this money it can help with research into deadly diseases, be put to save others lives, or help give money to those who need it. These are some reasons why tobacco should be illegal.

One of the largest and most problematic health issues in our society is smoking. Smoking is currently the leading cause of death in our country, due to its harmful and addicting contents, such as nicotine and tobacco. Although millions die from it each year, smoking is the single most preventable cause of death as well. Without smoking, a tremendous amount of money and lives will be saved. I think that our country should ban smoking and the production of cigarettes in order to maintain a healthier nation, help save the environment, and prevent the almost 1000 deaths that they cause in fires each year.

If cigarettes suddenly became illegal the United States would suffer greatly. Not only would crime go up from people selling, buying and smoking but the tax from cigarettes would disappear causing one less source of income and an increase of crime. Of course, not all bad would come from this. The lifespan of the average citizen would increase and they would spend their money that has been freed up from lack of cigarettes and hopefully invest that into something that may improve their quality of life. Cigarettes becoming illegal would be far more effective at stopping smoking than ads such as those shown on television since people care more about what makes them feel good now and not about consequenses down the road.

Smoking cigarettes causes more deaths than HIV, illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, and firearm- related incidents combined. Some people say that banning cigarettes would be bad because the government makes a lot of money from the tax revenues. Or that it would increase illegal trade. But based off of the fact that millions of people die each year, cigarettes should be banned because it causes many health issues, it affects a lot of people, and it costs the government a lot of money.

Everyone agrees that smoking is bad, so why is it legal? Cigarettes are bought by many people because of an addiction. Cigarettes are, but many people smoke a cigarette just to try and become hooked on this horrid, body destroying substances. These people try to quit but cigarettes can create an addiction and a habit that cannot be broken easily. These are some reasons why cigarettes should be outlawed.

It is estimated that approximately 5.5 trillion cigarettes are produced worldwide each year and are consumed by over 1.1 billion people, which is one-sixth of the world population. Cigarettes are diseases stored in a wrapped package with a bow on it ready be sold. Cigarettes shouldn 't be legal any longer because of the deaths and illnesses it causes. Such as throat and lung cancer emphysema and bronchitis.

The United States of America is a country who wants the best for its people. For centuries we have been a melting pot of immigrants and people have come here to pursue a better life. America cares for its citizens and looks out for their best interests. One of the many ways this is done is by the banning of harmful substances. When something is deemed overly harmful we ban it to stop our citizens from using it and therefore protect them. This is done when drugs such as LSD are banned or firearms without a proper permit are not permitted. One substance this is not done with is tobacco. Tobacco is harmful and causes death. Cigarette smoking is responsible for over 400,000 deaths a year in the United States. There are no benefits to smoking tobacco,

The fact that cigarette production and sales are still legal in today's world is ridiculous. Cigarettes should be made illegal because they cause numerous health problems, they are very dangerous to certain people, and they are addictive and cost a lot of money. Although some people claim they can not help smoking, there are many treatment options to quit. Cigarettes have never been good and are still a problem

Do you think cigarettes are good? I know I do not because they are horrible for your health. Some of these reasons why making cigarettes illegal would be a good outcome are less air pollution, reducing healthcare costs, and decreasing the possibility of fires. These reasons are why I think cigarettes should be illegal, there are so many good outcomes.

Cigarette have been around since before I have been born, and the abuse cigarettes get is very high. Most people do not realize what abusing a cigarette can do to you, then again most people do not care. There has been advertisements about why its bad for you. There has been rallies trying to shut down company's, and there has been people going beyond there own risk to inform people. In my CTC campus, they have even band cigarette smoking around the campus. So it says a lot about cigarette, if there are so many things against it. Would you smoke a cigarette, after knowing everything it can do to you?

Cigarettes are addictive and detrimental to people’s health. Lung cancer, throat cancer, and other health issues caused by cigarette smoking are serious problems in our current day and age. On top of that, there’s also the health issues caused by people exposed to cigarette smoke throughout their lives. Even though tobacco companies know that smoking is deadly, but continue to sell cigarettes because it’s legal to do so and they’re making money off of it. They need to be put in their place and shown that what they’re doing isn’t okay. Thus, cigarettes should be regulated as an addictive

An issue many people are faced with today is an addiction to cigarettes. Not only are they addicting but they have deadly effects on people’s lives because of the health problems, and money issues that they cause. There have been many articles, stories, and statistics about this topic that many people choose to ignore. Imagine sitting next to a loved one that is lying in a hospital bed dying of lung cancer due to the effects of smoking. Imagine listening to them breathe on a ventilator because they cannot breathe on their own anymore. Many families are faced with people in similar situations. As a matter of fact, I am sure you’re sitting there now thinking about someone you know who has died or has had the side effects of smoking. Many people don’t realize the side effects of smoking and how much harm it causes to yourself and the people around you. It effects people’s health, emotional/mental state, and even it can financially hurt them. Cigarettes should be banned from America. Having a ban on such a dangerous drug can encourage people to see the effects of it and smoke less or even give up.

The first major reason to make cigarettes illegal is the health problems. As everyone knows, repetively inhaling anything other than air into someone's lungs (in most cases) isn't healthy, confusing many other health issues are brought to light, “Smoking is estimated to increase the risk for coronary heart disease by 2 to 4 times, 6 for strokes, smoking causes diminished overall health, increased absenteeism from work, and increased health care utilization and cost,” (Health Effects of Cigarette Smoking 1). The side effects of smoking in no way, out weigh the pros. The amount of sickness and pain is caused should never be worth it. Not only does death by cigarette smoking outweigh the pros of smoking, but also other modes of death.
