Impact of climate change on human health in Bangladesh and world perspective
Climate change: Climate change is one of a larger set of large-scale environmental changes occurring in today’s world. Climate change affects the social and environmental determinants of health clean air, safe drinking water, sufficient food and secure shelter.
Over the last 50 years, Human activities –particularly the burning fossil fuels have released sufficient quantities of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases to trap additional heat in the lower atmosphere and affect the global climate.
Sea levels are rising, glaciers are melting and precipitation patterns are changing Extreme weather events are becoming more intense and frequent.
Climate change, together with other natural and human-made health stressors, influences human health and disease in numerous ways. Some existing health threats will intensify and new health threats will emerge. Not everyone is equally at risk. Important considerations include age, economic resources, and location.
In the U.S., public health can be affected by disruptions of physical, biological, and ecological systems, including disturbances originating here and elsewhere. The health effects of these disruptions include increased respiratory and cardiovascular disease, injuries and premature deaths related to extreme weather events, changes in the prevalence and geographical distribution of food- and water-borne illnesses and other infectious
Climate change has been in debate for many years over whether it is a threat or not, but climate change is a threat and will be for many generations to come. Climate change impacts the sea levels which has a major effect on oceans and marine life, causes more frequent and harsher storms, and puts coastal cities at risk for floods and erosion. Although climate change cost large amounts of money to fix it is killing our oceans and marine life, causes harsher storms, and risks coastal cities.
Current environmental health problems that will likely exacerbate due to climate change include changes in air and water quality, and increase in parasite growth and chemical pollutants.
(WHO 2015) It is now generally acknowledged that the global climate is changing as the earth becomes warmer, in particular due to the burning of fossil fuels. Human health may be impacted by shifting the geographic range and seasonality of infectious diseases, possibly increasing vector borne disease rates, disturbance of food-producing ecosystems, and increasing the frequency of extreme weather events such as droughts, cyclones, floods and bush
Climate change is a problem that we have been and are currently experiencing. It has caused much damage to people and the environment, by temperatures rising and natural disasters. It is a problem that world leaders need to take more seriously, and try to get more people involved to help better the environment. Who knows what it can cause in the future. Climate change is a serious threat for everyone living on earth.
Climate change affects people and nature in countless ways, and it often increases existing threats that have already put pressure on the environment.
The influences of weather and climate on human health are significant and varied. Exposure to health hazards related to climate change affects different
Climate change can be defined as a significant change in the “average weather” of any given region sustained in the long-term and can be caused by Earth 's dynamic processes, external forces including variations in sunlight intensity, and also by human activities (USEPA, 2014).
Rising sea levels, polar bears falling through ice, huge monsoons evaporated by blistering sunlight , it sounds like a nightmare, but all of these things are happening on Earth. Earth's temperature is rising, the average temperature is expected to rise a little over 8 degrees fahrenheit over the next couple centuries. These changes in our climate can result in bigger problems than just warmer weather. Climate change happens to everyone and it will affect all living things on Earth, through the use of our resources, such as: agriculture, water, resources, ecosystems, and health.
Climate change is a challenge facing our planet right now. Long-term effects may develop as a result, causing threats to natural resources, human health, and the economy. The concern is rising with the amount of carbon emissions and greenhouse gases in our delicate atmosphere.
The impacts that global warming has on humans varies on where in the world they are, how sensitive they are to health threats, how much they are exposed to climate change impacts, and how well they are able to adapt to change. Developing countries are usually most susceptible to health related issues. Even wealthy nations are threatened by climate change because it is a world-wide problem.
People have been aware of the rise in the earth’s temperature and its effects however, many persuaded themselves that there was really no immediate danger as well as, there was nothing one could do to mitigate the issue and felt higher authorities were responsible for outcomes and resolutions (Wearts, 2011). On the contrary there is immediate danger and long term affect to our earth if our earth’s temperature continues to rise. Polar caps and glaciers will melt resulting in major changes in our ecosystems and causing the sea level to rise (McKibben, 2009). Anthropogenic Climate Change has caused the uprising of precipitation intensity and or dry spells, and wind patterns (Giorgi, Coppola, Diffenbaugh, Gao, Mariotti & Shi, 2011). Precipitation intensity up rises due to the increased atmospheric water holding volume. The increase is related to surface evaporation rates ultimately,
Sea levels are rising, glaciers are melting and precipitation patterns are changing. Extreme weather events are becoming more intense and frequent. (WHO)
The average temperature is expected to rise over time. With the temperature slowly rising, icebergs are melting in Antarctica which is causing polar bears to have to move. Snow and ice cover has been decreasing a lot already. Sea levels are also rising, if sea levels are rising that can cause floods. More and more floods, droughts, and heat waves have been occurring more than one hundred years ago. With all of these natural disasters happening more often, the human race is having
Climate change is one of the biggest problems the whole world is collectively facing. Even though climate change is partially caused by the natural cycles of Earth, humans I think are still a major part of it and I think that we can do more to protect the environment that we live in. Climate change happens when temperatures increase dramatically. When climate change causes temperature rises many environmental problems can occur here on earth . Temperatures rising can result in more floods, droughts, or flooding rain, as well as more frequent and severe heat waves which can cause wildfires. Oceans and the Antarctic Ice Glaciers have also experienced changes in oceans that are rising temperatures and are becoming more acidic. The Antarctic ice glaciers are melting and sea levels are rising destroying many habitats along the ice glaciers such as penguins and polar bears. As these changes frequently occur in future decades, they will likely present challenges to our society and environment.
Through the eyes of most scientists, global warming is seen as a very serious and severe threat. The actions taken by humans, such as industry and consumption of fossil fuels plus the increase in population and agriculture have played a big part in global warming. If something is not done soon the results could be very bad.
