Even more so in times of stress or need. Calculate how much you bring in each month and how much you're spending each month. Try to bring in more money than you are spending. Make long-term and short-term budget goals, soon you'll see the larger picture and be able to more appropriately prepare for large expenses such as tuition. Doing some research on financial assistance is a great way to keep you above water during trying times. Student loans are second to housing costs at about 1.1 trillion dollars. With this amounting debt and the lack realistic budget plans more than 13% of students end up faulting on their student loans within three years. This causes bad credit which can be scarring for years and make it hard to get anywhere with loans in the future. For your financial aid to truly aid you, you need a plan to repay your debt while getting your education and not falling behind on your
The career I chose is a secondary education teacher. More commonly referred to as a highschool teacher. A highschool teacher teaches grades 9th-12th and generally focuses in one subject area. High school teachers help prepare students for life after graduation. They teach academic lessons and various skills that students will need to attend college and to enter the job market (“U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics”). I chose this career because I want to be able to make a difference in young people’s lives and help shape them into good people. “I know that I have a huge impact on my students not just now, but for the rest of their lives,” says Linda Shelly, a high school math teacher in Glendale, arizona. “Seeing them rise to the challenge gives me great pride.” (“Teaching For a Living: Career Outlook”).
I want to be a nurse practitioner when I grow up. A nurse practitioner ,or commonly known as NP, can treat and diagnose illnesses and can also conduct lab tests.(“Welcome to Top Master’s In Healthcare Administration”)
The career I chose to undertake as my profession is that of a mechanical engineer. Why do I want to become a mechanical engineer? Well, for starters, I would be able to design, build and possibly repair many various machines and other technologies that are complex. These technologies can range from being already in use on a global scale to new, futuristic designs that are highly technical. Also, this career includes being a sort of jack-of-all-trades, where I would possess knowledge in mathematics, physics, etc. Finally, this career offers me the chance to expand outside my immediate area since mechanical engineers are well desired around the globe as well.
I am a senior with two years till graduation, but you may ask yourself, “Why does a senior need two more years? How could they be considered a senior in this scenario?” I am glad you asked. I have enough credits from previous colleges to be labeled as a senior but the requirements for my career change have left me with more than a few holes to fill in my degree audit thus making me a perpetual senior. My degree is in biology and chemistry with a minor in math, but I began as a mechanic. I began working on automobiles in my hometown of Minneapolis, receiving a degree from Hennepin tech and landing in New Jersey fixing jets for the military. The life of a mechanic is not a glorious one. It is long, hard, dirty, and painful on the good days, but when you add military regulations into the mix it becomes unbearable.
Prior to writing this essay, I sat down with my mom to come up with ideas on stories that have made me who I am today. That is when I realized I have made more personal growth in the past four years of my high school career that I have before this period of time. I am ending my high school career with more knowledge than I ever expected.
A man once said “The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future in life.” The California state university will send me on my path to my future. California State university, the Northridge society, one of the best technology schools and should allow me to have the best education.
College can be a very difficult place if you don’t have any assistance but with these recourses you have help in every area. I haven’t gotten a chance to use all of these recourses but the ones I have used have been more than helpful. When I first got my schedule I was confused about how the textbook numbers and the bookstore worked. I walked into the bookstore and someone was able to help me right away. A woman walked with me around the store and collected all of my textbooks within minutes. Another important recourse is the counseling service. Being a college student can be very stressful and confusing. How do I know I’m taking the proper classes I need? This service gives assistance in that area. They are also able to help with personal

Incoming students are gone over their placement scores and discusses their major with them, usually counselors however many have more knowledge in particular major than other, and it is advised to make appointments with them rather than another, as they will be able to give better advisement. The counselors help students pick out which classes to take in order to fulfill their degree requirement along with others that may interest them. As well as pointing out different programs that may interest and help out them in order to be more successful, if the students are undecided in they point them in the direction of programs like the career
O*Net Online’s database is the nation’s primary source for occupational and career information. O*Net answers questions about an occupation’s work requirements and skills needed for a specific job. Secondary level advising catches my eye, so I chose to learn more about the skills, knowledge, wages and educational level required for academic advising. Academic advising, stated by O*Net Online, “counsels’ individuals to help them understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their educational and vocational situations.” (Build your future with O*Net Online. (n.d.)). Academic Advising also includes crisis intervention, keeping accurate records of students, and preparing students for success after high school.
When I first read To Kill a Mockingbird, I fell in love with Atticus Finch’s character; he was a calm, fair lawyer who fought for the wronged. Lawyers represent individuals, businesses, and organizations in court, as well as read wills and deeds. Criminal prosecutors represent clients who have had a crime committed against them. I chose this career because being a lawyer, especially a criminal prosecutor, requires laying out facts in a clear and concise manner, as well as verbally framing evidence in such a way as to support my client and convict the defendant, and elucidate upon the case itself. It is important to understand and be able to fulfill the education requirements, skills needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties performed when choosing a career.
Our world gets more digital every day. Nearly everyone has a smartphone and a computer. Even more people have a TV and if people do they are in contact with the digital world everyday.
The work space for an aviationist is wide open and increasing. There is a lot of jobs for an aviationist such as an engineer mechanic, serve technicians, avionics technicians, aircraft mechanics, aerospace engineering, and airline and commercial pilots. The reason I chose this career is because I have some family that went to college to learn about aviation and after researching about aviation and all it has to offer I realized that the job is wide open and increasing plus it is a great paying job. It is important to understand the education requirements needed for this particular career when making this decision.
If possible most high school students get a job whether that’s during the summer or even throughout the school year. Similarly, I had been looking for a job for some time as well. Fortunately, I had found some temporary work during the summer but decided that my love for learning and education was far more important. Then during the beginning of this sophomore year, I meet a gentleman through school who had sent his sons through a college program while they were still in high school. He proposed the idea that I should look at my early college career as an investment. His reasoning behind going to school instead of working was that each year completed would mean another full year in the workforce creating an income that is more than three times
Furthermore, flexible access to student services has become more common over time. Clearer and more accessible information now exists on institutions and the specific programs needed for planning degrees and careers. Programs for nontraditional learners provide orientation workshops to reacquaint applicants with the rigors of college level study, and to reduce anxiety about reentry after a prolonged period of time. Some of these programs offer remedial classes to help the student re-learn or improve study skills. The availability of financial aid information has improved greatly over time.
