Origin:
Monotheism and Polytheism both refers to one who worships one or more upper deities of sort in order to guide him/her throughout life with morals or the fundamentals of a successful life. The first mark of religion itself originated when mankind “became human” by thanking the supposedly many gods for the wellbeing of their arts, crops, etc. Since gods were represented as the guardians of these factors, the birth of Polytheism was the first religious mark. But the most well known begining of polytheism regards the Egyptians and their matters of faith (Kirsch, 23) Monotheism however originated from Polytheism. The worship of a single god originated from Egypt in before 1347 B.C.E by Amenhotep IV. This period pretty much lasted his time on the throne and came to an abrupt end by angry polytheist. His idea of worshipping only one god followed him to his tomb. Before becoming completely forgotten, the Israelites adopted the idea of Monotheism to believe in their one and true god, Yahweh, with the prophet, Moses to enforce the word of Yahweh.

Within monotheistic religions, the divine beings were always human. Polytheistic religions however didn’t pinpoint their deities to humans one form.
