We experience many ethical issues throughout our lives, sometimes on a daily basis. Some teach us how to act, while others teach us how not to act. Despite seeing them so often, many of us fail to acknowledge them. Although, sometimes we do and we retain them for the rest of our lives. One ethical issue I have experienced is the treatment and opportunities students at Cookeville High School receive, compared to those of Upperman High School. Students at CHS have the privilege of taking a wide variety of career and technical classes, such as veterinary sciences, cosmetology, engineering, and much more. This gives CHS students more opportunities when deciding on a career because they have more classes available to them. Besides receiving better opportunities, CHS students are seen as well to do kids who are better at everything. Therefore, they look down upon other schools and believe they are at the top of the totem pole. Besides CHS students, CHS parents also believe their …show more content…
Since Upperman students are treated as minorities to Cookeville, one might think we are taught to dislike. Although that is not the case at Upperman, we know we are the underdogs, however, we still respect Cookeville for what they are, “the big house.” The other lesson it has taught me is how to act, whether it is at a sporting event or out in public, have pride for yourself and your school. Instead of acting like a maniac, we are taught to act with class and represent our school well. By that, I mean to represent the four pillars: truth, honor, loyalty, and service. Which mean to not live a lie, carry yourself with pride, remain loyal to Upperman, and serve others. All in all, despite receiving fewer opportunities, and treated as lesser students, Upperman High School has taught me how to think and act in order to be a better
Last year, at Kingsland High School’s Graduation Ceremony, Josie Hinze not only receiveed her High School Diploma, but also her Associates of Arts Degree before even attending any college or university. Fast-forward to one year later, and seven Kingsland students will be graduating high school with both their High School Diploma and AA Degree thanks to the collaboration of Riverland Community College and Kingsland High School for allowing high school students to take college-level courses in high school and receive college credit for them. Not only that, but there are several others who will be graduating Kingsland High School with transferrable college credit so their first few semesters might

South Point Delta High School was the first high school in Lawrence County, Ohio outside of the city of Ironton. The first class met in 1913 or 1914 (sources differ) and had less than forty students. The first building specifically constructed for the school was completed in 1916, with a large addition done in 1936. According to Federal Public Law (PL 108.265 Section 204), all schools had to create a wellness policy in June 2006. New legislation requires an updated wellness policy by June 30, 2017.

Ridgeway Junior High School faculty and staff alongside some parents of students of Ridgeway find themselves in the throws of a heated debate against other parents on the permissibility of providing students attending this junior high with contraception through the school. Ridgeway Junior High is a low income school located in Maryland, where black, latino and other students of color are in majority. In many recent years, Ridgeway has seen the increase of teen pregnancies, last year alone there was a district record high of 25 pregnant girls, which didn’t include students who didn’t report because they for example, secretly had an abortion. Franklin Junior High which is just outside of Lincoln Heights, where Ridgeway is located, is predominantly middle class white families and sees much lower instances of teenage pregnancy without having to provide contraception at school. The health class at Ridgeway is not that comprehensive, abstinence is preached, but not extensively, it warns of the dangers of teenage pregnancy and STDs,
Well it was January and teachers were ready for Spring 2008. The area superintendent was first on the morning agenda to share that Principal Mrs. C would no longer be a part of Creek Middle School, as she had decided to leave the district and seek employment elsewhere. The area superintendent was also there to introduce the interim principal that would be leading the campus until further notice. As Principal Mrs. D was being introduced teachers were whispering to one another about what was taking place at Creek Middle School. Principal Mrs. D took the floor and shared with staff about her experience as a teacher and principal. Mrs. D had actually retired after 35 years in education, and was a part of the district interim program where retirees
The time has come for the students at Saltillo High School to wave goodbye to their principal. In a short amount of time, Mr. Devaughn will retire and leave the student body to wonder who will lead them next. Now students must consider their expectations of how a principal should carry out their job. The school board should take into account these expectations when choosing who they wish to represent the school. After much thought, the students of Saltillo High School have decided that they need a principal who can create a good school community, discipline the students, and act fairly.
At East Granby High School, there are no honor codes or a system that would cultivate integrity and prevent cheating and plagiarizing. This is troubling because cheating and plagiarizing play a large role in the school’s community. For example, some teachers have had to make different versions of tests to prevent cheating in the classroom. By establishing a system in which students would have to sign a statement ensuring that they would not cheat, steal, or plagiarize on any of their assignments at the beginning of each quarter, the community as a whole would benefit through the maintaining of the honesty of more of the student body. Even though honor codes would not eliminate dishonorable behavior entirely, the act of signing a statement would make those who cheat or plagiarize understand the reality of their actions. Furthermore, the principles within the system could explain the punishments that would be administered for the violating of the established code. The student body at East Granby High School would benefit from the formation of an honor system that would provide rules that made it clear that cheating, stealing, and
To determinate if the personnel director at East High School is in trouble for these lawsuit is important to consider the two sides and see if the laws that protects minorities are valid for this case or the arguments from Tory Bolton are valid in the case.
