Cooperative coaching stands out a lot due to me being a very outgoing, respectful, and caring person. Interacting with each teammate based off there characters, and getting each one to learn and respect each other is the first key. Practice and game settings have to be on the same page, communicating, decision making, and self responsibility are three major aspects that we as a team have to stay on top of in order to make great things happen. Allowing the team to make decisions as well as myself, is allowing growth to the physical and most important mentally aspect of the game. I agree 100% that the players view point of the game is going to be different from my viewpoint, due to me looking from the outside in. Yes, my players will have their
What rating would you give the team out of 10 (10 being the highest level of success)? What factors do you think contributed to the level of success your team achieved when success is defined as the creation of a resource that has authority and is user-friendly and the degree to which you worked effectively as a team. Provide specific examples from your experience to illustrate these factors.
What is your coaching philosophy? (The beliefs and principles that will serve as your guide to action)
At Clear Choice Coaching we are changing our thought process and model from devoting ourselves to winning. We have recognized that this visual is not a long lasting fruitful one to use because there is more to life than the score of the game. We wanted to use a model that provided results and addresses an engaging model for our coaches and athletes to follow. We wanted to address player’s lives in and out of the competitive arena. With this thinking becoming a part of the fabric of our organization we recognized that individuals can choose the way they think and these thoughts can be achieved through the application of specific cognitive strategies and ultimately impact our administrative and athletic performance. With the help of a sport psychology
In Ray's last coaching discussion, he was challenged to increase his focus by not giving in to distractions and taking part in lengthy conversation with others. Ray was able to stay focused and less distracted, yet started to loose focus again towards the end of the year. I again challenge Ray to find ways to remain focused and avoid distractions. I encourage Ray to consider the Dale Carnegie course in the near future.
What seemed like a mere Friday became one of the most memorable events in the Junior Academy. On 16 of October 2015, the Junior Academy Olympics was underway. Each individual Olympic team was composed of a team leader and students from all grades. Each team was filled with high moral and a strong belief that their team would be victories in each station. Once the Olympic song was finished, and the doves were released, the whole school was filled with an extravaganza of chants and cheers. The Junior Academy Olympics had begun.
I’ve found many organizations that could help me in on professional development, professional organizations, and finding a mentor. The one that stood out to me was the ICF( International Coaching Federation). The ICF is an organization who’s purpose is to advance the art, science and practice of professional coaching. The ICF has independent certifications and a large network of coaches. Being involved in the organization would allow coaches to develop coaching skills, establish a professional standard, and network. It also includes discounts on events, staff support, and continuing coaching education. To join there is a $245 fee that is billed annually, as well as a Membership Eligibility Requirements. Having a mentor can be a very useful
For the coaching observation project I observed the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Urban Meyer. I watched him on TV when Ohio State played Penn State. The reason I selected Urban Meyer to do my coaching observation is because he is the coach I decided to model my coaching philosophy after. The reason I chose this game specifically is because this is a very important game and I want to see how he handles his team in high-pressure situations.
While direct questions are a profitable tool for coaches to make assessments, leading questions can be used to test hypotheses and assumptions about the client’s situation or responses (Neenan, 2009). When asking leading questions, however, the coach should hold lightly to their own opinions (Dunbar, 2009). When a client does not respond in the expected way, the coach should let go of the expectation and follow the client wherever they lead the conversation (Dunbar, 2009). After all, the coach is just a facilitator and any progress made, or not made, in the course of the coaching process is in the control of the client.
CM was unable to reach Valeria Rawls (Team up Counseling) regarding the linkage of Robert (youth) to ISS services. CM left a detailed message introducing herself as the new Care Manager for Robert and CM provided her contact information. CM included in the message that the request for the CABS assessment has been approved and the referral has been faxed over to Team Up Counseling. CM requested to be contacted as soon as possible.
Team building competences are best acquired when you develop clear detection of roles such as with leaders and manager. Seeking to put people in positions where they can be the most effective in getting things done and being successful. We also welcome feedback and feedforward approach to once again foster creativity and promote more communication between everyone (Wakeman.C, 2015). From a leadership position, the feedforward approach is another way at also looking at future performance, which is good for the health of the organization. The feedforward approach and coaching focuses on goals, not standards
A formal coaching contract is an important instrument for both coach and employee and really serves two purposes. Firstly it sets ground rules for the coach/coachee relationship so that both parties know their obligations. Secondly it can keep the liabilities of the coach to a minimum.
This week I was asked to do a coaching assessments. Although, not all of the questions apply to my situation at this time many did, this gave me very good feedback. Some of the feedback was expected and some of the feedback was surprising. As I countune I will go through each of the sections and point out where I need to improve and where I have seen positive.
In sports, young athletes interact with adults and peers; social relations and perceptions are related to fundamental psychological dimensions of a well-being (White 2007). In this regard, the leadership displayed by the coach can influence motivation and satisfaction of young people in sport (Horn, 2002).
The American woman’s Gymnastics team is deemed to be unbeatable on the world stage holding their third consecutive world title and placing in the top three at every Olympics since 1996 including the prestigious all around title at the 2004, 2008, 2012 (Roenigk, 2016) and 2016 Olympics (Rio 2016, 2016). Unfortunately, the resources regarding the Coach Education system which implements the team’s success on the world stage is limited. USA Gymnastics University is the main education provider for gymnastics coaching and Judging offering the school of Competitive Gymnastics (USA Gymnastics, n.d.) which offers four levels of certification and the School of Judging (USA Gymnastics, n.d.). Both schools show no signs of formal or importance placed on informal mentoring as part of the education pathway. National team coordinator Martha Karolyi highlighted it was important for her to find a way to guide the
Over the last several years, the issue of employee motivation inside the workplace has been increasingly brought to the forefront. The reason why is because, globalization has been having an effect on the ability of firms to compete (which is placing more pressure on them). To deal with these challenges, most organizations are relying on their employees. The results are that those employers who are able to use this resource will be able to make adjustments quickly. This is when the firm will be able to maintain their dominance in the marketplace.
