A scholastic literature review is an essential component of many types of papers written not only in the field of business but as well as in other fields of expertise. This importance (Taylor, 2007) stems from the fact that in order to become an aristocrat in any field of endeavor, an individual must know his field expansively and that critical reviews of up-to-date literature permit the professional to make sound and informed decisions, to act in an expert and scholastic manner, and to set policy based on intellectual facts in his or her field of expertise. Thus, making Review of Related Literature a requirement in professional papers such as thesis and dissertations in business and in other disciplines. As for Hart (1998), the purpose of the Review of Related Literature includes recognizing what has been done for the topic from what needs to be done as well as discovering important variables relevant to the study or topic, identifying the relationship of idea and practice and understanding the structure of the subject. Admittedly before reading The Norton Introduction to Literature section of our reading homework my perception of literature is mostly based on stereotypes and misconceptions. For instance, I am not sure why despite the fact that I genuinely enjoy reading I have avoided literature to a degree. I am not sure if I thought I might not comprehend the books content or author’s intent. Or because social stereotypes suggest literature to be the property of Harvard elite and English gentleman instead a common man such as myself? Either way after reading the books introduction to literature I now understand how it can reflect perceptions, preconceptions, and most importantly misconceptions in human society from both the author and readers views point.
When looking at each of the articles presented, there are defining factors that allow researchers to determine whether or not it is a scholarly or popular resource. Of the two articles, one can assert that the USA Today Article is a popular source and the article by Baker and Algorta (2016) is a scholarly source. Each of these sources has their advantages and disadvantages due to the stylistic devices employed by the writers. With the help of each article, knowledge of readers and viewers is expanded, and while there are some facets that detract from the quality of the knowledge gained, the readers benefits from the time spent reading.

In the Chapters “Me” and Ideology”, Bennett and Royle are able to define the terms as well as suggest how they are interrelated or interconnected.
