From what I’ve gathered out of this article is simply the following: Customization isn’t something that can only be obtained by modernized sporting rifles(Bolt Guns and AR’s). With a few rather simplistic steps any Gunsmith can tailor an old shotgun(smoothbore and rifled) to fit a specific shooter in some pretty ingenious ways. First would be correcting the length of pull. In my mind, I like to compare this aspect of firearms to a good compound bow, you can buy higher end ones and if the draw length is off it simply will not perform what you expect of it. The same principle applies to firearms, regardless of whether it would be a rifle or shotgun. Improper fit in this aspect will result in sub par accuracy and more importantly, it will …show more content…
The overall length of pull was short, the comb height was non existent and I would have to break cheek weld all the time, and lastly the pitch was awful. The pitch is what I’ll cover seeing how it was the most problematic for me. If the shooter were to draw a line that bisected the rifle from the bore to the Buttstock it would become obvious the problem with this old rifle. It simply was not anywhere in line. It would’ve been four-fifths of the stock were below the bisection. Meaning the recoil was pretty nasty and made follow up shots difficult. After reading this article, I’ve come to the conclusion of how to fix my old fabled Mauser, one being a new stock with more of the bore being in line to the Buttstock. The second modification will be the porting of the barrel to help some of the muzzle climb. Most younger gun enthusiasts associate a ported barrel directly to a Glock. I’ve personally had the same train of thought as well. The benefits of porting an old Shotgun become almost ideal for any application. Most younger folks will probably seek out porting to fit the bill of 3-Gun Comps or for use in the good old outdoors. Either way you cannot go wrong. Particularly if the shooter is a small framed individual that has to absorb the majority of recoil from slugs or other heavy loads. Not only will the shooter’s shoulder forgive them it will also allow them more longevity on the gun
A Rifle could shoot a bullet up to 1,000 yards–and were more accurate. However, until the 1850s it was nearly impossible to use these guns in battle because, since a rifle’s bullet had roughly the same diameter as its barrel, they took too long to load. (Soldiers sometimes had to pound the bullet into the barrel with a mallet.)
In wars prior to the Civil War, soldiers wielded weapons such as the musket which shot only one bullet at a time. Though these types of weaponry could shoot as far as 250 yards, they were inconvenient and wasted time. To even aim at the target accurately one had to be 80 yards away. Similarly to muskets, rifles were inconvenient because they took a while to reload because the bullet was almost the same size of the barrel and again, wasted time. Bullets with a pointed tip were created in 1848 by Claude Minie. Because the diameter of the bullets were smaller than the barrel, soldiers could put them into the gun quicker and more effectively. With Minie’s bullets, rifles were simpler to reload but still had to be reloaded with one bullet at a time. That unprotected gap of time made soldiers more vulnerable so in 1849 a repeating rifle called the Volitional Repeater was patented by Walter Hunt. They were popularized in 1863 during the Civil War. By this time many models were being sold but the most common one was the Spencer Carbine which could shoot seven bullets in just 30 seconds. These, like most Civil War era weapons, were produced and used by the North, but not
I, realized the superiority of the Glock pistol when I, went through police training in Lackland Air Base Texas. I, was told by at least 90% of the Airman and Instructors that the Glock was better than our issued Berretta and it showed. People were barely passing the pistol course until we were told to just use the front sights. I, noticed over the years how Glock changed the firearms industry and not just with revolvers. According to Campbell (2017 Pg-1), the Glock holds most of the police market. I, completely agree this statement as it offers me better precision and holding capability.
This design lead to greater and more powerful weapons to be used in the First and Second World War. The weapons used in the World Wars were by far the most advanced of their time. The new weapons produced three times the amount of firepower either sides of the Civil War could produce at any given time. These weapons were feared by the citizens of the time. These new weapons consisted of the Thompson, a submachine gun, which fired a .45 caliber bullet at high velocities. This rifle became the standard fully automatic rifle for the United States Armed Forces. Though this weapon had a very important role in winning the war, it was also used in various crimes throughout the United States in the early nineteenth century. Does this make this rifle a bad thing to own? While some would argue that the weapon was a threat to the public’s safety, and while the others would say it was not, it still fired at a high velocity which makes the possibility of multiple deaths more possible. This caused a large concern to erupt among the public in large cities where mobs were becoming popular. It was obvious that these new found guns would be great for protecting the public, however, it would also come to harm them since they were falling into the hands of criminals. These weapons would never stop evolving with years to come weapons would become more deadly and even more common than the thompson would ever be.
A majority of guns are used for recreational use. Sixty-six percent of guns are used for target shooting, and fifty-eight percent are used for hunting (Carroll). It undoubtedly shows that a large population uses guns in an innocent way. My dad and I both own shotguns and enjoy going shooting clay pigeons together every chance we can. This is one of the only times I get to spend time with just him, so it has become very special to me because my dad and I are very close. My dad, being an athlete in his youth and me being one right now, makes for some spirited competition. The politicians that want to take away all guns, would take away this wholesome activity that has been a part of American culture for hundreds of years. The economic benefits for recreational gun use would

In Document A, it is said that “ the development of weapons like the Model 1861 Percussion Rifle-Musket resulted in a battlefield transformation.” (Doc A).
Some people simply put their cheek on the shotgun and try to hold it like a rifle with the sight on the bullseye. When fitting a shotgun, much like a match rifle, an adjustable stock is needed or at least a try-gun. It allows a gunsmith or store owner to have the capability of adjusting
The musket is a two-handed weapon which means that it can not be shot from a vehicle and unable to be concealed on a person. What this would prevent is people driving away from their opponents and taking their engines out and also unable to whip it out. Second, the musket only has a clip of 1 with a time in between shot 4.56 seconds. Compared to the revolver with a clip of 6 with a time in between shots of 1.833. This all means that its a more risk to using, you can be rushed when reloading causing you to get killed.
Unlike muskets the newer, better weapons had the capacity of multiple rounds like revolvers could shoot 4 to 6 shots before reloading allowing multiple opportunities
First of all I am going to describe what exactly a shotgun is. A shotgun is designed to be fired from the shoulder. The shotgun fires a shell that holds numerous spherical pellets, also called shot when buying them from stores they are classified by the amount of
Due to many of the recent violent acts in our country involving guns, the question has arouse; Should a system of universal background checks be required for all gun purchases? What some Americans do not realize is that guns are constantly falling in the wrong hands of criminals and more often, the mentally ill. There are too many Americans loosing their lives because of this. Most of the people that are ineligible to purchase guns are able to because of the flaws in the universal background system or through private party sales, which do not initiate background checks. Shootings actually occur very frequently. Since 1982, there have been 61 mass shootings, all involving gun use. The United States also holds the record of having 15 of the nastiest 25 shootings. It is proven that more guns result in more murders. States with harsher laws on gun control do not have as many deaths from violence correlated to the use of guns. According to a map provided by The Washington Post, “…states which have one of three gun control restrictions in place – assault weapons’ bans, trigger locks, or safe storage requirements. Firearm deaths are significantly lower in states with stricter gun control legislation (Klein).” Seattle’s Mayor, Ed Murray states “Gun violence kills 86 Americans every day. It happens everywhere: in big cities, small towns, on our streets, schools, shopping malls, and places of worship (Klein).” It is apparent that individuals who have criminal backgrounds or who have a
The mammoth threat residing in the U.S. are that of opinions, and guns. An even more dangerous concept, is opinions about guns. Large corporations and politicians fight over the 2nd amendment (the right to bear arms). Would this cause an uproar and bring about more violence to your children and siblings? Storms come before rainbows likewise violence will come before this amendment will ever be infringed. As time goes on new modifications and regulations are made to the second amendment. Will the amendment the forefathers put into place be infringed upon? Did the presidents of the past write the future? Will the bloodbath of polarization be worth the fight? Should the right to bear arms remain

The 30-30 Winchester lever action has an American walnut stock with a blued finish. The gun has a loading port on the side to load ammunition into it. The barrel is twenty inches long with the whole gun being thirty seven inches long. The cartridge can hold at least five to six
