Individuals with excellent interpersonal skills often collaborate well in teams or groups and with other individuals more generally. When interacting with others, interpersonal skills come naturally, yet in some situations, it can also be challenging to communicate with others. According to **** “Through awareness of how you interact with others, and with practice, you can improve your interpersonal skills” (p. ). Therefore, it is vital that individuals occasionally evaluate their communication skills to ensure that they are communicating in writing or speaking effectively. On the Internet, there are multiple communication self-assessment tools to help individuals discover their communication skills strengths and weaknesses, and overall, determine if they are communicating effectively. This commentary will provide a reflection of the author’s key skill competencies, particularly focusing on communication, teamwork, problem-solving, interpersonal skill. As well as this I am also able to listen to other people to understand their emotions and needs and help them understand what they need to do to progress. In chapter nine you get into the development of language and communication skills, which is a difficult concept in the beginning for the mothers and daughters. At first, the mothers and daughters didn’t have the best communication skills due to the conflicts they went through. Although, when it comes to the resolutions of their problems, the mothers use semantics and syntax to give what they say meaning. Their daughters want to understand their mothers, at the same time the mothers want their daughters to understand them. There are many different types of communication skills. Communication skills are a vital part of most people's daily lives. We tend to use communication skills in everything we do, for example, listening, friendliness, confidence, empathy, respect and sometimes even non-verbal communication. I try to use good communication skills in everything I do because I know it will benefit me not only in present day but in the future. By using these skills I have learned that it makes it easier to communicate with others along with that it makes a personal connection with whoever you are speaking to.
Prior to my APPEs, I believe I need to improve on my communication skills. I think I have made considerable progress on improving this skill, but I believe I can do more to improve my communication skills in order to have good interaction with patients.

It is essential to pupils learning that relationships are formed between themselves and the Teaching Assistant. The key to effective communication is to be able to listen carefully and take note of what has been said as not listening can cause a breakdown in relationships. Children need to feel comfortable, safe and confident in order for them to learn successfully. It is important that children feel happy with and feel that they are in the presence of someone they have a good relationship with and who listens to them. One of the main things an adult can do is when having a conversation with a child is to talk and to listen. It is important that children have good language skills, talking to them is an important way to support these skills
If I have a student like Kevin in my classroom I would make sure to incorporate social interaction and communication skills in my class each day. I would provide group discussions with students who get along and can support each other, and give the student like Kevin a role of reporter. Having the group discussion will open up “Kevin’s” social skills and make peer relationships. Then later have him tell his other classmates what their group discussed in hopes of having him be less stressed about social interaction.
Developing better communication skills is more than talking to someone to get a point across. Listening and understanding the key components of the conversation is a part of having communication skills. By listening, issues would be processed better which would help establish a common ground between the people that are having a conversation.
