Introduction The symbolic interactionism theory is the view of social behavior of individual that emphasizes linguistic and the gestural communication in a society and its subjective understanding of different matters, but especially the role of language in the formation of the child as a social being and social behavior in the society. On the other hands, the structural functionalism, which is also called as simply functionalism, it is a framework for building theory or perspectives that sees or seek the society as a complex system and whose parts work together to promote solidarity and stability for the betterment of society. Functionalist argues that drug abuse is a response and reply to the weakening of norms and values in society or states. Such as when a society becomes more complex and rapid social change occurs in the society, at that point norms and values become unclear and ambiguous people of society which might be resulting in anomie which is a state of normlessness in the society.
