Compare and contrast.
The different between Arabic and American culture When I was about to go to the U.S, the only thing comes to my mind is knowing the rules and trying to follow it. However, after I had been there for one month, I met some American guys, and that made me thinking about their culture and getting experience that can help me keep my friendships with them. I was surprised at some part of their culture, while other part was not. It were many differences between Saudi Arabian 's culture, and American 's culture which came by native Americans from long time; however, other one derived from Islamic religion in most of it. Moreover, both of these two cultures have some commons in general part such as employees in supermarket, the way of paid to the workers, and the debt. On the other hand they are different in the time of paid of workers, using own bags for grocery store or supermarket, and friends trip overnight. First of all, the employees ' supermarket in Saudi Arabia help their customers out to their cars resembles U.S. Almost always employees ' supermarkets carry that stuff customers bought it in both countries. Even if it is unnecessary given tip to the employees in Saudi Arabia, most of them did that without asking the customers so, if they need help, the customers will give them tip without specific amount. Moreover, in the U.S they ask their customers if they need help to carry customers ' stuff. For example, if someone buy
Have you ever wondered how High Schools are in other countries? Despite sharing some minor similarities, the differences between Nicaraguan and American High School education are clear. Such as, note-taking methods, grading system, classroom environment.
Culture is the overall moral belief, customs, language, and attitudes a person is brought and raised into. Daily, we are exposed to diverse and different cultures everyday which allow us to learn the different values and traditions each culture possess. The importance of observing and learning different customs is beneficial because it can help us better adapt and prevent misunderstandings when we communicate and interact with others. Hispanics and Americans are two huge cultures that have been sharing the same living space for years but are an example of two different civilizations. While both, Hispanics and Americans, share many similarities they both differ in recognition of religion, language,
Although there are many similarities and differences between American and Somali cultures, parental expectations is one common thing they share. There is one principle that every parent holds so high, that has had a significant impact on their children’s lives, and that is the essential to attend an undeniably prestigious university. American and Somali parents want that their child to be an accountable person. Also, they both want to see that their child is making wise decisions throughout his/her life. Like every other parent, they want to witness that one day there will be a successful person. However, Somali parents have higher expectations than Americans. My parents are a perfect example of this, they have passed on to me an enormous amount
Culture is a very vital part of the world as we know it today. There are very many different cultures all around the world. In the USA, we have a mix of all the different cultures and and family values. From the original Native Americans that inhabited America to the Middle Eastern people in Afghanistan. These people groups have brought their language, food, values, and customs with them.
And also it’s the norm to tip at any restaurant, like not only the small cheap restaurants, but if I go to one Beirut’s top restaurants, which are crazy expensive, I’m still supposed to leave a tip, to this millionaire restaurateur, how did this become the norm? But listen, I might be missing something, why should we tip? Reason 1: “if we provide good service, you should leave a tip”. No, no, piss off man!
Arab Americans are defined primarily of their religious identity and they reside in all 50 states. The first generation of immigrants from the Middle East dates back to late 1800s. The majority of immigrants’ population came from Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and Jordan. Religion plays an important role in the Arab society and most of their way of life is not necessary because of their religion. Like many other immigrants, the reason these immigrants migrated to the United States was to escape the religious persecution, an opportunity to build a better life. Majority of how Arabs interact and the way their culture is has to do with the Koran and it is one of the foundations of Islamic law. In the Arab American culture, family is an important aspect and everyone plays their respective role. Fathers are the head of the households and are expected to provide for his wife and children. The women has restrictive education and they help support the family by caring for the house. Kids take on a role are taught by their parents depending on their gender. Boys are most likely to follow the footsteps of the father to prepare to care for his own family one day. The girls learn the basics of running a household. It is common for the children to live with their parents until they marry or live with them to care for them as they age and can no longer care for themselves. The Arab culture also value respecting the elders and they are often the decision makers in the family. The family
individualistic. American culture is virtually the opposite of The Middle East. as long as religion
The Middle East is a very culturally different place than the United States. So I have interviewed a friend of mine who is from the Middle East and asked them some things from their daily lives and culture in the Middle East. I asked them some information about themselves, some important things in their culture are, and how they communicate with each other.
cultures and their behavior styles; in order for the culture to accept any type of assistance medical, financial, and education and assist in breaking barriers for counseling with this culture. Arab is one of the well-known culture around the world with a strong connection with Islam. They believe in one God (Allah) and Muhammad is his prophet. Lebanon is my hometown, that is where I was born and raised. I moved to america when I was thirteen years old to live with near my grandparents. Lebanon and america are two very different cultures in many ways.
Often, I consider whether there are other living creatures around that we have not yet found. A while prior I had a thought to investigate the universe all the more intently. In light of my interest, I recently went by an irregular planet called Earth. As I landed on Earth, everything was extraordinary; it was as though I was trapped in a snow globe all my life and did not know anything past. Consequently, I felt ecstasy as I walked through a narrow pavement exploring the nature around me. Our own particular planet varies in a wide range of viewpoints. In addition, there are frequent significant differences in other living creatures. I observed a common species and examined them well; they refer to themselves as humans, more specifically Americans.
As long we are in America, we have to know the American culture and follow the American law. Since I came to America, I have been trying to think as an American, pay bills, work 12 hours a day, have no social life, and have self-reliance. Unfortunately, money is everything here. I think there is a big difference between the Libyan culture and the American culture which I have seen since the first day I came to America. Our life in Libya was warmer; we had a asocial life, and money was not everything for us. What I like in America is that it is a multinational culture. We have to work with different people from all over the world, and we come in touch with different cultures. It is wonderful cultural
Culture is a very significant attribute of human experience determining to a large extend the way people relate with others within their environment. According to Mahfouz (2011), culture is also important not just for managing the way understand and relate with each other but also as a form of identification giving people a sense of belonging and identity. The human race is highly cultured with many different people preferring to lead their lives based on traditions defined within their cultures and in order to understand human behavior and relationship, it is important to ensure that this issue is well understood and appreciated. This brief paper discusses the effect that culture has on how people relate with each other and how different cultures provide different avenues of expression that make life easier or harder for those that relate with them. I will use my personal experience of my Arabic culture to provide insights about the issues that culture influences in human relations.
Culture refers to a lifestyle of a people including all their ideas, values, knowledge, behavior, and materials or objects that they share (Knight 2015). Cultures vary from groups and societies as big as continent to continent, and as small as family to family. A great way to observe cultural differences is to look at two different countries. Saudi Arabia and the United States of America are societies that both have their own independent cultures. The two countries have very different cultures from one another. We can observe this by looking at the different cultural traditions, customs, behaviors, norms, values, beliefs, and materials that are immersed into each society’s culture. These cultural aspects are preserved and transmitted by the members of one generation to the next (Knight 2015).
