Eagle Scout Personal Statement

I am honor to be a part of National Honor Society, I believe that I contributed to my community by helping other and being kind. I am very focused and hardworking individual because I know that I worked my way up top in very little time. I am very happy to get opportunity to be a member of NHS society, that means that I have fulfill all the qualities such as character, service and scholarship, as well as leadership. I am very excited to be a member because it will help me as a person to grow as a individual, I am looking forward to that.

Eagle Scout Custom A cultural custom in the area where I live is for a young man to earn the Eagle Scout Award. There are many reasons why this is a cultural custom. While the young man earns this award, he learns to be a leader, learns to give service, and learns various skills he will use for the rest of his life. A young man is strongly encouraged to earn the Eagle Scout Award and many resources are made available to assist him.

It is an honor to be chosen as a candidate for membership in the National Honor Society. Academics, leadership skills, service abilities, and character are four principal parts of a superior student. I believe that I am inclusive of all these aspects needed to become a part of this prestigious group. Becoming a member of this organization is important to me, because it will help me get into an excellent college and push me to work harder in school.

I would like to be a part of the WSU Army ROTC program because I have a lot of potential to offer and I want to develop into a full fledged Army officer. The military path is something I have always wanted to pursue since junior year of high school. The influence of growing up in a Navy family helped shaped my decision to enlist in the Army National Guard. I was fortunate enough to be advanced from PV2 to PFC at the end of BCT on November 2016. During Initial Entry Training I realized that my goals and beliefs were aligned with beliefs such as the Army Values and LDRSHIP principles. After learning about the Army values and LDRSHIP principles, I integrated these beliefs into my everyday life as a soldier and a working student.

It is an honor to write this letter of recommendation for Austin as he nears his goal of obtaining the rank Eagle Scout. I’ve known Austin his entire life and remember when he first started cub scouts. Each summer Austin comes to Georgia and visits with his family and each year he is excited to get back home to scout summer camp.

After taking AP Chemistry, I knew that I wanted to study chemistry in college. I also have been a very inquisitive person my whole life, wondering why things are and how things worked. My inquisitive nature and love of chemistry is why chemical engineering appeals to me. I am drawn to Biomedical engineering due to its application of both chemistry and biology to solve medical problems. Doing a complete 360, I am interested in art history, because not only do I find art fascinating, but I also find it mesmerizing how artists visually represent and were inspired by the world around them.

One of my anticipated goals would be to increase overall safety of the transportation sector. I believe that an education in mechanical engineering would furnish me with the ability to lead a productive life as well as usher in changes in the commercial automotive industry.

When I think about my future contribution to the Air Force Academy I think of myself as a well rounded participant. Although not every accomplish I have achieved has come easy, I have never given up on any task or sport. I love to challenge myself with obstacles bigger than my colleagues and always strive to do better the next time. I have prepared myself for the classroom at the Air Force Academy by taking multiple Advanced Placement classes during my high school years. These courses have fostered my abilities to work collaboratively with peers while giving me the characteristics to be a leader.

SSgt Toledo-Mercado, you have been in the Air Force now since 2010, and a SSgt since February 2016. You have successfully completed all Career Field Education and Training (CFETP) requirements for your 3D0X2 Cyber System Operations Craftsman (7-Level) Training. Based on my observations, our open dialogue and your vision, I assess you are a Flexer. You do not necessarily fit the mold of a Creator, Advancer, Refiner or Executor; however, you are able to adapt to the needs of our team. Furthermore, you are open-minded and understand the different members of our team which is vital to accomplish our mission. I feel that Navy ROTC is above the other branches when it comes to leadership and instruction. Navy ROTC is the perfect program to help me achieve my goals in the future. Using the lesson and skills obtained during ROTC; I can repay my country, provide a good life for my family, and take a financial burden off of my parents. One of my key goals in my life is to serve my country with a military and civilian service.

I first want to apologize that due to some circumstances that relates to me, everyone has to take time from their day to be here. Today, I am not here to plea for any sympathy or to convince anyone that the current situation is not correct, but am here to share with you all my perspective in regards to the current situation.

Although my situation in this world is not dire, I have had to work hard to get good grades, to be elected or chosen for leadership positions, and to achieve awards such as Eagle Scout. When I started the scouts I had set a goal to become Eagle Scout when I was sixteen. I worked toward this goal for four years and I successfully achieved it in February of 2014. This experience taught me discipline and organizational skills. There were times I felt I wouldn’t make it, but I was so determined and driven to achieve my goal, I kept moving forward.

I have had the pleasure of staffing a Boy Scout summer camp for the past four years. At this camp, I serve as a merit badge instructor who teaches in the ecology department. Through my work, I have introduced hundreds of scouts to  expanded knowledge concerning forestry, environmental protection, and basic scout skills. Besides my status as a teacher, I also get the amazing opportunity to befriend each camper at my scout camp and encourage each child to pursue their interests and ignite their passion for the outdoors. Additionally, I served in numerous leadership positions at the camp: including an assistant area director (overseeing class quality), and as the staff "Senior Patrol Leader" where I was a liaison between staff and administration,

My interest in engineering came from being fascinated with the field of medicine and healthcare. From a very young age I have been exposed to many types of healthcare products such as blood glucose monitors and hemodialysis machines. Until my father was diagnosed with renal kidney failure, i had no idea that there were over 8 dialysis centers in the hampton roads area and that so many patients were going through the same treatments as him. I plan to use my skills from my chemical engineering background to make more economically friendly and efficient machines for dialysis patients to improve their quality of life in order to give them more time back into their lives instead of being hooked up to a dialysis machine for over 12 hours a week.

I have literally known what I want to be since I was a toddler. Of course, as a three-year old putting together Legos, I could not have verbalized that I want to be a mechanical engineer. However, it was at that time that I began to develop and use the skills that I will need for my desired career. I began to consider how parts went together and the different components necessary to build and sustain various systems. Part of the inspiration was the simple fun that I had while putting together these small toys, but part of my inspiration was my father. He was a maintenance turn-around coordinator at an oil refinery, which led to my own desire to work as a mechanical engineer in a refinery one day. As I grew older, my interest in mechanical engineering remained constant, though I expanded my interest beyond the oil refineries. In fact, after attending a pre-college program, Jackling Introduction to Engineering, offered by Missouri Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri in the summer of 2011, I realized that engineering was the perfect way to exercise my curiosity and inventiveness in a constructive and productive manner.
